I heard that Universal did away with the express passes for each ride...is that true?

We are going mid Sept on a weekday and I was thinking about buying the express pass plus just for Universal only...we can get IOA done fast in the morning. The passes are only $15 each and it is just my DH and I.

Thoughts?

Yes, it's true. There are no more express machines, and no more free express.

Honestly, during a weekday in September it is highly unlikely you'll need them. The good news is, you can wait till you get inside the park, check out the wait times, and then buy them if you think you need them (they sell them inside the gift shops w/in the parks). I would not risk wasting $$ beforehand since it's improbable that you'll use them. :)

Hi, I had come on here to check this out cause someone for a review over at tripreward had mentioned Express pass for $15 at Universal....
is it true you really can buy them in the park?? How exactly does it work? Is it for a certain amount of rides or is it a per ride thing, I only ask because on the website it's $50 for all their express rides, but only on the certain days, so this is something you can do any day your there??
Sorry for all the questions, I just knew if I had questions this would be the best place to get the answers!!;) :)

The price of the express pass varies depending on the day and season. You can buy them in the park and you can use it once per ride. It is advisable to wait and see how the lines are before you spend your money on them.

Thanks!
I guess I can see what your saying, no different then when we go to Disney, sometimes it's not worth getting the fastpass, other times its best you do.
We're going July 1-4, which I know is a busy time of year, just a little worried about it. With 3 kids and a grumpy DH I just don't know about how much I can take of long lines!!;)

Okay please tell me I did not waste $400 on these! It's me, DH, DD6, DD5, and DD11. I figured with the heat and all, that the kiddos will not be in the mood for long waits. Please tell me it's worth it for the end of July!! July 26 and 27 to be exact!

Can the once-per-ride be used flexibly in any way? What if someone has no desire to ride Hulk or Dueling Dragons. Could he or she use those express turns for a second express ride on Spiderman, for example? Or swap out one's express turn on Mummy for a second express ride on Jaws?

If not, I would think it would be a waste for those who don't want to ride each and every attraction.

You didn't waste your money. It will be busy then and you will be glad you have express.

You can't ride twice on Spiderman even if you didn't ride Hulk. Now if someone in your party has express and doesn't want to use it for a certain ride, then you could use theirs.

You could have booked a room at one of the on-sites for one night. That would have given you unlimited express for two full days and saved you some $. Even if you didnt stay there. Either way express should be a huge bonus for those dates.

Ughh... yes, yes, I know... i just got so excited that I compulsively bought without thinking things through. It's like, once DH says yes to something, I have to hurry and get thing in order before he changes his mind!
