Express Pass Plus Confusion

This will by my first time to Universal this May, and I'm a little confused about the Express Pass Plus option. Are these something that we add ON TOP of our original park ticket fee's in order to get on the rides faster? And do they really make that big of a difference? My boyfriend and I are staying in Disney for a week, and plan on taking a day off to do WWOHP on Monday, May 9th...would it be worth our while to get the Express Pass Plus option?

From what I understand they dont work for WWOHP as the site says,

NOT AVAILABLE ON THE FOLLOWING ATTRACTIONS:

Universal Studios Florida

* Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit®

Universal's Islands of Adventure

* Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey™
* Pteranodon Flyers®

I have a question to tag on, are the express pass tickets really worth the money at universal if I plan on doing both parks in 2 days in June?

Looking at the Express Plus pass price chart, May 9th is at the cheapest price which indicates lower crowds. I would recommend waiting until you arrive to see what the lines are like before purchasing the EP. You will probably be OK without them that day.

June is going to be busy and getting to the parks early is key. I would wait until you arrive to see what the lines are like before purchasing Express passes.

Metro West,

If the price is already $49.99 for the express pass for my date in April- should I go ahead and buy them? We are only there for one day (US only) and coming straight from the port after our cruise. The park closes at 10:00 that night and we want to do just about everything there except RRR. What are your thoughts? It is during the week of Easter weekend.

That's a tough call. Normally I don't recommend purchasing EPs ahead of time because they are non-refundable and date specific. You are definitely going during high season but if you can get there at opening, you can probably do several major attractions without too much of a wait. You wouldn't really need the EPs then. If you are planning on getting there later in the day, you should probably go ahead and purchase them. The early bird gets the worm. ;)
