Does anyone have any info on the express pass that you can purchase if you do not stay at one of the on property resorts?

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=692159 explains how to order them.

Here's what the universal studios page says about them:

UNIVERSAL EXPRESS PLUS

Universal Express Plus pass allows guests to create their own schedule and maximize their experience at Universal Orlando with shorter wait times at select attractions.

* Enjoy express access throughout the day without worrying about passes expiring or running out.
* One pass good at every ride and attraction with an express entrance.
* No pre-selected ride times - ride when you choose beginning one hour after park opens.

*EXPRESS PLUS PRICES DO NOT INCLUDE THEME PARK ADMISSION.

Reservations begin one hour after park opening. Limit one time only per attraction using the Universal Express queue. Not valid for special events. Universal Express Plus is date specific and non-refundable. Additional restrictions may apply and benefits are subject to change without notice.

Can express plus be added onto advanced on-line tickets? Should we wait to get this since we are going in Jan. and it might not be that crowded?

Express pass plus is a seperate ticket and isn't on your admission pass. I would wait as January is usually not busy at all.

And seeing as how I can't seem to find it on their website, I guess I'll just wait. Would you have to get it at the gate?

Go to:
http://universalstudiosvacations.com/ticket/index.asp?RTType=TO&vendor=IUN&Referrer=unr&pl=UNR

Pick your dates and number of people. Click: "Search." It then gives you to a another page. If your information is correct Click "go." It lists express pass plus tickets there. Iif you aren't seeing it, then it is because your vaction is too far away. Right now they are only offering express pass through the month of December.

Ah-ha, that's why I keep getting the message "We're sorry but no vacation packages were found for the city/date you requested" It must be because I am trying to look for Jan. and they're not offered yet. The "vacation packages" wording tripped me up, I was clicking onto tickets only, but when it brought up about packages I got confused. It's those stupid little things that just drive you nuts, you know.

How insane is that???? For us to purchase the express pass for our IoA day is $188. I'm pretty sure that is nearly equal to the price of admission!! Think we'll pass on that, lol.

If you're going in January or February you won't need it.
Just show up early and be first to the gate. The parking garage opens at 8am.

We were at IOA and Universal during Thanksgiving weekend and purchased the Express pass plus at the gate. It cost an additional $37/person per park (Yes, you need an seperate Express pass plus for each park) and was worth it's weight in gold, especially during the holiday weekend. However, we only purchased the pass for IOA since we spent the majority of the day at that particular park. By the time we hit Universal, there was only 2 hours left before the park closed, so it wasn't worth purchasing another pass.

We just got back and definitely did not need any express passes.. but, maybe check this out. My nephew ordered his ticket on line and choose the "print at home" option, so he printed out his ticket at home, and brought that with him. When he checked in at the gate they said he was entitled to an express pass and gave him one. BUT.. this was the 3rd day.. he did not receive this on the first or 2nd day, so don't know if that was an error on the part of those people ticketing him , or if it only went into effect on the 3rd day??? So check that out on line.. maybe it explains it there.

If the crowds are anything like what we had.. the wait was very minimal.. longest time was simply walking through the mazes to get up to the front of the line!

wow! for april 17th its saying $28 for express for both parks! can i buy this once i get down there or do i have to do it online? i think its worth the extra 30 if it saves you a lot of time (i only have 1 day to do both parks). is the express line usually fast moving or does it still take a while?
thanks, michele

The price varies a lot. For our trip in March it is $15 per person per park. You can buy them on site, although I would get them early in the morning because there is a set number and they can run out. This is one reason to get them online. The negative with online purchase is that you have to specify the date and park, and what if you can't go that day? you're up the creek, as they say.

UO advertises 15 minutes or less. The TM's do a great job at keeping it a lot less than that usually.

Wow! I had no idea the price varies. I also did not know you could buy them in advance. Last year the sat AFTER Pres day we went it was $15 /person for 1 park or $20/person for both parks. We bought the one for both parks. In general lines weren't that long, and we could have manged without it, for us, since we were doing both parks in one day, we felt it was worth it.

we just booked our us and disney this week and un gave us a price of $30.00 each for the express plus added to our ticket price, figure with our plans during spring break and week before easter we willneed all the help we can get to help get us on attractions, it is the second time we have been there but first time was the first year us opened.

I bough the express pass and received it yesterday. It is for FEB 12. I got (2) passes for both parks and paid a total of $54. Not too bad, I figured it would be crowded on that Saturday with it being Mardi Gras.
