Hi everyone,

Wondering if anyone has done the "Explore The Stars" premium experience. (see link above)

Does anyone know the pricing/cost for this experience? The Aulnai website just says "fees apply".

If you have done it, can you please share your thoughts on this experience.

Does anyone know the schedule of when this takes place?

thanks

Just returned from Aulani and did this experience last Sunday night - 2 adults and 2 children (13 & 10). We all enjoyed it! There was only 1 other child in our group (supervised by a non-participating parent). Got to view many stars/planets including: Jupiter and it's moons, stars in various stages of their lifecycle, as well as another galaxy!! The man who hosted was very knowledgeable and engaging. He welcomed all our questions. It lasted about an hour.

I believe the experience is offered Saturday, Sunday and Wednesdays. It's (obviously) weather dependent. On Sunday it was offered at 8pm and 9pm. Cost was $40 per person.

thanks for the information.

What time slot would you suggest base on your experience?
Our thoughts are the latest time slot (darker and more starts might be visible)??

thanks again

I think either time is fine and it was dark enough for both. We traveled from the east coast and staying up for the 9pm session at the start of our trip would have been too difficult. During our 9pm session, the guide tried to locate a star he had viewed during the 8pm session, but it had moved and the view was now blocked by a tree. He was able to easily locate a different star to demonstrate what he was explaining.

There were more people in the 8pm session, so the 9pm might be a better choice if you prefer a smaller group. Not sure that's always the case, just what we experienced.

We thought so. It was unique and interesting.
We had considered other activities with fees (photography class, for example) that we never ended up signing up for. We were having too much fun just hanging at the pools and beach. So we ended up paying for activities related to that - such as snorkeling, paddleboards, cabana.

Thanks for the response! Are telescopes something you use often or was that part of the unique experience for you?

We don't often use telescopes, so that was part of what was unique for us. Plus the power of the telescope and the knowledge of the man leading the session to direct us to specific stars and explain what we were looking at.

Is this done on the Aulani property? Also, can you only sign up for it when you are at Aulani or can you reserve in advance?

It is held on Aulani property. We were between the pools and beach. We signed up a day or 2 in advance, while we were there. Sorry, not sure if advance reservations can be made.
