This may not be the most appropriate place to ask but I know someone here will know the answer.

Will juice boxes explode in a checked suitcase? I want to bring some with us but Dh is afraid they will explode in the suitcase. Thanks.

The only thing I can think of, is pack them in zip lock bags, even double bag. The do sell juice boxes at the resorts, and they aren't too pricey. You even get one included in the kids meals. I would see if you could purchase them when you get to the resort, or ship them down ahead of time. One thing I do recommend is maybe buying hi-c juice boxes. Their juice is clear so even if it does expode, it won't ruin your clothes.

I will definitely use zipper bags.

We probably won't be getting too many kids meals, DD will just eat off our plates. I don't mind buying juice down there but thought it might be easier to bring some with us since we have the room in the Family Suite.

I've shipped juice boxes and they didn't explode:sad2:

If I were you, I would go to a grocery store outside of WDW and get some juice boxes there. There's a Goodings grocery store right outside of the WDW property that we visit more than once while we are there. They are pricey, but it's better than the alternative if they did explode.

They wouldn't explode but they could certainly get smashed and crushed and leak - I think I would pass on packing them and I will generally pack about anything.

I think a lot of things we ship are shipped via ground but when you pack something in a suitcase and then fly - that's another scenario altogether. Personally, we either rent a car and make a grocery store stop, or order from gardengrocer.com (or wegoshop is another one). You could also do what the pp mentioned and pack a box with some items you won't be bringing back, and ground ship it via UPS or FedEx. We shipped a box of stuff to our resort last December and it worked out well for us.

I pack the small gerber juice bottles. Then pack a sippy cup we use water from the bby care center and then add the juice. They always survive the trip.

I packed juice pouches when we went in May. They were at the bottem of a military bag so soft sides... and they were fine when we got there. I kept them in the box that they came in and put a bag around them. They were all fine.

We flew from Denver, don't know if that matters or not. I also packed lots of snacks and such. Nothing was to smushed. I would pack them again!

Well here's another thread from the Disney Tips board:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1578655
Basically, someones whole suitcase was ruined because of something in someone elses bag leaking all over it. Their clothes were saved though because almost everything was packed inside big ziploc bags. Just something else to think about...personally I don't like to pack things that can come unsealed while flying because I don't want to have to deal with a big mess. I try to always put bottled liquids like shampoo in ziploc bags and more than once it's saved our clothing from being soaked with the stuff by the time we got there. And until I read the above thread, I honestly never thought about how it could affect someone else but you now I know! ;)

Last time I did pack water and juice boxes. However, now that I think about it, we took that small suitcase as our carry on. I have never done it as checked luggage though. So, as a carry-on might be ok. :confused3

But no liquids over 3 ounces is allowed for carry-ons.:sad2:
