Exploding birthday box

My inspiration for this was the DISboards! You all rock! Your works inspire me to think outside the box! When I saw the exploding box posted on here, I knew that was what I was going to use for my sister's surprise 50th birthday party. I wanted to do something special with the photos for her and this was perfect. So here is my exploding box to my sister!

the top gave me the most trouble.

The edges of my top aren't as thick as in the instructions but then again, I didn't really go off the measurements as much as the idea itself! (Like I said, math isn't my strong suit!) Besides, I wanted a larger dimension to the box itself than it called for. I also inked the edges of the flaps, which was the first time for me to try that method. I have to say that I like that effect. I ended up having two flaps and the center for journaling and 16 flaps (using the front and back of the flaps) for pictures. The remaining blank flaps I just decorated with my love of embellishments!
