Explaining Bad Grades to Parents

thanks for the advice! the reason for the C's are because I'm really getting used to the new school, but my parents won't believe that. They don't think rationally when it comes to grades. They will transfer me to all CP courses where i won't be challenged, or they'll make me quit student council, and i've made a commitment to them, I'm a class officer!

I doubt they'd make you transfer all your honors classes. Afterall, those are important to take for college. However, I think your grades should come before "class officer".

With that schedule and being a freshman, it's going to be extremely tough. Explain to your parents that Honors courses are very hard as it is and AP Biology is one of the HARDEST AP classes you can take. In my opinion, your parents need to cut you some slack and lighten up, you're in your first year of high school.

i talked to my mother about it, she is a little angry, but she said she won't make me transfer the courses, but my report card grade has to be good. i also won't have to drop any extracurriculars =). thanks for the advice everyone!

Tell her it's just a progress report and you can bring your grades up. Tell her you're going to give it your all, and make sure that she sees you trying really hard. Make sure she never has to tell you to study or do your homework, that will show that you're not trying. Sadly, I learned all this the hard way, haha.
