Explain to me How a DVC Resort disappoints you

If I am at AKV and want to eat anywhere outside that resort, I have to get in the car and drive.

That's perhaps the issue for you, since you said you drive everywhere at WDW. My post was about the quality of and accessibility provided by AKL/V bus transportation, from the perspective of someone who relies on Disney transportation. If I'm at AKV and want to eat outside of the resort, that probably means I have an ADR at EPCOT, and I can get to/from there faster from AKV via bus than you can from BLT via monorail -- though I can't beat you in your car!

As I said in my second post, I do wish it were possible to walk to some other location from AKV, but on the other hand, this is one case where sights/sounds from other developments close by could meaningfully detract from the theming. When it's quiet in the morning, you can hear the gibbons doing their morning wake up calls at AK park :)

We enjoy spending more time at the resort/s now and don't mind taking the time to have dinner at a resort other than the one we are staying at. Some are definitely more convenient than others for different reasons. Some are definitely darker (rooms) than others and not all of them have great views. It's nice knowing we will be back and we can change it up a bit too and we are not always in the same room assigned to us (just in case we were not that thrilled with something).

Unless we have some major problems, housekeeping issues, plumbing issues, etc. we make the best of it and absorb the beauty of each resort. I also feel incredibly lucky to own/afford DVC and forced to go back for more and more :).

This was one reason I thought that might be talked about more. As DVC members, I think we spend more time or vacations in Disney than the average. I have friends at work who have gone once, or a few times, but we have gone every year. So, I get that you would want to stay at your favorite Resort since you spend more time there.

I absolutely have favorites for different reasons. I want to stay in the EPCOT resorts during the F&W fest (we stayed at BWV in 2006), but often they are not available, and I would rather book solid than go on a waitlist.

But, to me there are no real issues that I would not stay at any of the resorts. We walk our whole vacation, so having a long walk to our room, or a pool, or food court is no issue for our family, we plan on it when in WDW. If you have a handicap, or just a tough time getting around, then the spread out layout of an SSR would just not work. Having room issues (bad toilets, unclean etc...) as we know can happen at any of the resorts. I cant say the theme for OKW really works for me, and I did think it was a bit run down compared to some of the others, but I would still stay there, and it sounds like they have been renovating.

Again - I guess I just dont get most of the issues. But, the nice thing about DVC is having that option to stay at a number of different resorts. I do like to mix it up, so I hope to stay at them all.

I dont take the negative talk to heart, and everyone's own opinion matters to them. There would be no point in trying to convince someone that you think AKV is a great resort when they say they dont like it. For me - I just feel that all the resorts offer something special, as DVC members we get great rooms that are comfortable. I love the isolated feel and seeing the animals at AKV (and we do rent a car), I love the theme and layout of SSR, to me the grounds are gorgeous, I love walking around the resort. I enjoy being able to head to DTD in the evening, or just being away from the noise at SSR. I love how the golf course weaves through OKW, and I love the Boardwalk and easy access to EPCOT that the EPCOT resorts offer. VWL is a great theme, probably my favorite, and being close to the Transportation Center is a bonus. So - I guess I am just enjoying what each resort has to offer.

The only thing that disappoints me about any of the DVC resorts is that our trip always comes to an end and we have say goodbye and go home to the real world. :rotfl2: We also feel incredibly blessed to be a part of DVC. I think people sometimes take DVC membership for granted. In the greater scheme of things, there are many people who can't even begin to dream of becoming members due to their personal or financial situations. We have always been very pleased with our stays and have never had any real problems arise. Sure there have been minor issues - like a ceiling fan not working or furniture/decor being a little worn. But these are pretty insignifcant when you consider that we are on vacation at our favorite place. It has been our experience that the Dis cast members bend over backwards to fix the problem if something does occur. It is my contention that any day at Disney is better than a day not at Disney. I feel so thankful that I am able to spend some of my life actually at Dis and some of the other part planning trips to Dis! It's a great disease - uh -I mean life to have! :rotfl:

I think your post perfectly sums up my feelings. Firstly, how truly blessed we are to be in the postion to be able to afford this for my family and friends. Secondly - we are in WDW - it does not get much better. To me - there is nothing to complain about at all!

i can't imagine considering disappointment before even trying something :confused3

we have stayed at almost all the DVC resorts (as well as the mods and deluxes), and found that we greatly prefer one. we love walking to EPCOT and DHS, the BW entertainment, community hall, and consider BW view an important part of our vacation (i have my coffee to the sun rising over crescent lake, watch the entertainment as we have dinner, sip wine as we watch illuminations from our balcony....:cloud9:). if another resort offered those things, we might even have a new favorite;)
during the BWV remodel, we received a call informing us that we were being moved to the BCV for our oct trip. i was seriously considering rescheduling the vacation (we have stayed at the BCV a few times, and also own there) - after a bit of pleading, MS was able to keep our reservation intact :woohoo:

after many, many WDW stays, we found we do like all the resorts to varying degrees, but also consider ourselves fortunate to find one that consistantly wows us.
i see no reason why we should have to forego our favorite if we don't have to:)
