I just priced 4 7 day Hopper,no exp. from Ticketmania $1220.00 and 7 nights at a value resort $956.97 for a total of $2176.97.

On the Disney website, i put in the same dates, 7 Day Hopper,7 nights Preferred room at a value resort and it was $1967.05.

Where is the savings booking it yourself and in pieces? :scratchin

If I did it wrong, please explain as I would like to save where I can.

Did you check on the same options for the tickets (i.e. no expiration, park hopping, etc.?)

If that WDW website thing is for a package, add the dining plan to that...and you've got food, too.

Sounds like WDW may be offering some deals for packages.

The WDW Package did not have no exp. because I only got the no exp. since I was pre-buying the tix. Maybe I don't need the no exp.? Even so, I don't think the no exp. added up to a little over $200. If it does, I will probably go package anyway just for the ease of it.

I don't think we could stand to eat in a sit-down every day! Just too busy and we don't eat that much anyway. Plus we have to watch DH and DS's diets and it's easier to do on our own than in sit-down places that have little in the way of healthy food.

At Ticketmania, the no-expiry option adds $63 to each adult 7 day park-hopper and $66 to each child.

Convenience aside, you can also save on the room iteself if you can book a AAA discount. The amount varies with the season and the level of resort.

The two combined might make it worth your while to handl your own booking. We always do.

Forgot all about the AAA room discount, and I'm a member!Sheesh! Thanks for the reminder. Is it difficult to get their discount? I know they go early, but how early can you book it? I'm not looking at going until next summer, but I can't help scoping it out now!

Yes - we also get the expiring tickets now. We use them up each trip anyway, so I don't see any savings buying the non-expiring tickets, unless you are planning two five-day trips over a period of time and buy 10-day tickets. But that kinda stuff makes my ears bleed.

We also use the AAA discount on the room, Ticketmania discounted tickets thru Mousesavers, and skip any dining plan things, as we don't like to be tied down to so many meals (also have our Disney Visa dollars banked up to use on meals!).

Packages are a totally individual thing for families. We did it once, and found we ended up with way too much "ticket" and food options.
