I have a Cuisinart right now & really like it, but, all these Keurig posts are making me wonder if maybe I should try a Keurig (not sure why, but, it must be good :lmao: with all the posts about it - am I missing somthing :rotfl: ).
Can someone explain it to me? Whats so special about it :confused3????

I would also like an answer to this. Also, what exactly is a K cup and how expensive is the coffee for this special contraption?:confused3

No one...wow, with all the recent posts I thought someone would chime in quickly..maybe everyone who bought them are having second thoughts :lmao:

Or else everyone is out purchasing them for Christmas gifts.:confused3 I've seen some good markdowns on them.:goodvibes

My office has a Keurig. What I like about it:

- It makes really delicious coffee. It can also make tea and hot chocolate, but I haven't tried them yet.

- It makes a single cup of coffee very quickly. It has a resevoir to hold water, and it keeps the water for a single cup at the perfect temperature. Push a button and you get a fresh cup of coffee in seconds.

- You can choose what size you want - our machine at work has three different sizes to choose from.

- Cleanup is easy if you use the K-cup (it's a little plastic cup with coffee/tea/hot cocoa sealed inside, the lid is foil, and the machine pierces it and runs the water through) -just pull it out of the machine and throw it away

Downside: The K-cups are expensive, IMHO. Also, a bit wasteful. But, the machine we got came with a filter. You can buy your own coffee, put the grounds in the filter, put it in the same spot as the K-cup in the machine, and it brews the same. Then just throw out the grounds and wash the filter to be reused.

Once our Mr. Coffee at home breaks, I plan to get a Keurig. I like that it's quick, easy to keep clean, makes a fresh cup every time, and I can use my favorite coffee with it.

You can buy a my K cup thingee that allows you to use your own coffee. It's 14.95.

I first had Keurig coffee at Universal's Portofino Bay because that's the coffee maker in the rooms. It was one of the best cups of coffee that I've ever had.
The K cups are pricy and I drink alot of coffee, so I'd buy the My Kcup accessory.

If anyone knows of markdowns, please post them or send me a PM, thanks.

I have one. It makes really good coffee one cup at a time. I only drink coffee sometimes, but my GF drinks it every day. It is great that I can make a cup in a minute or less when I want it. Also, she likes her coffee stonger than I do, so she can use a stronger type and we both get a cup that we like the best.

The cups themselves are probably a little more expensive than regular coffee, but there is also no waste, your not tossing half a caraf of coffee out.

I am also thinking of getting the personal size one to take with us on trips, the little coffee makers in hotels tend to stink, and the GF likes a cup of coffee as soon as she gets up.

I have one and will never use a regular coffee maker again! My sil had my dh buy me one, and I didn't even want it, but she was so right! I can't live w/out it. I'm going to buy the smaller one for travel too.

Use distilled water in it, as the minerals in regular water can break it, even if you descale it (it happened to my sil). It's SO worth it though. My kids love, love, love the hot chocolate, I have a few teas and flavored coffee for company, and I love my regular and decaf coffees for everyday. Like others said, you can get the perm. filter so you can use regular coffee if you wish.

the great part about it is... every single cup is a fresh cup, it takes a minute or less to brew it, everyone can have different coffee (decaf, regular, bold, extra bold, flavored, tea, etc). It's really worth it!

I just got mine this evening - SWMBO gave me the go ahead to get an early Christmas present. I bought it at Kohl's and got $40 in Kohl's cash that I will use tomorrow to get more K-cups.

If you are curious, here is a link to the Keurig web site: http://www.keurig.com/

I also picked up the reusable filter because I LOVE Dunkin' Donuts coffee. The first cup I made was Dunkin' and it came out perfect. I am gonna like this.

It i ten past midnight and I am drinking my second cup of coffee - but that's okay. I have to remote in to my company at 1 a.m. and start maintenance on 14 servers located around the country (Phoenix, St Louis, Pensacola, Hershey PA and some cities in New Jersey). Maintenance weekend for the IT department.

It makes one cup of coffee at a time, in about 20 seconds...and it's a good cup of coffee. It can also make hot chocolate, chai tea and all sorts of other stuff.

My DSIL & DBIL have one. They are not big coffee drinkers, so for them to make a whole pot when they were probably only going to have a cup was wasteful.

I was under the impression that this was the one that uses pre-packaged single serve cups of coffee? Am I wrong? My wife's friend has one that does this and I think she said it costs like 75 cents to make a cup of coffee?

I like coffee, but the serving she gave me was about 1/3rd of how much I drink in the AM, and I can't see me paying $2.25 to make coffee, and that isn't even including what my wife drinks.

When she told me how much a cup costs to make, I couldn't bring myeslf to ask for a 2nd cup! :rotfl:

Even at full retail they are about 60 cents a cup. Depending on the machine you have you can make 8, 10, and 12 oz cups. You can also run a second cup through the same container of coffee, this works fine with the bold flavors.

Also you can use your own coffee with the my Kcup filter, it works very well as well.

I get a box of 18 K-cups at Bed, Bath, & Beyond for about $6.75. Anyone here good at Math? I don't feel like figuring it out. :lmao:

Ok...I figured it out - it's only about .38cents a cup!

I dunno... I'm not even sure we are talking about the same machine... And maybe the price of the servings has come down. When I had it, it was around 3 years ago.... all I really remember is that I was shocked when she said how much it cost per cup.

That's why I asked if I was wrong. :)

I think we are talking about the same machine. I just use my coupons really well at BB&B. I get three boxes (18 cups in a box) for $20.00...which works out to about $6.75 a box.

Individually, the boxes sell for $10.00 each at BB&B, Target, etc.

A few days late but...LMAO as well.

I have a Keurig and DW and I love it. As stated earlier you can use the K-cups and sometimes can get 2 cups of coffee out of the bold flavors thus reducing the cost per cup. You can also reduce the price you spend on coffee by using My K-cup which was also stated earlier. All the My K-cup is is a filter that can be filled up with your favorite coffee e.g. a 5 lb canister of Maxwell house for cheap or Starbucks whole beans (grind beans first of course).

OK, dumb question here...If you buy the filter and use your favorite brand of coffee will the coffee taste better brewed in this pot?

IMHO I think that it would because you are getting a fresh hot cup on demand. I only drink 1-2 cups in the morning and DW does the same but we go to work 1 hour apart so it is a convenience factor more than anything I guess. But they do taste really good.
