We are currently booked at the GF from Nov 20-27 on the Deluxe Dining Plan. Last night, my kids said they would rather stay at the Poly. DH and I would rather stick with the GF. But then we thought... hey, what about a split stay? But we are not sure how it works. Also, from the 20-24, we have a 40% pin code applied to our reservation. The rest of the days are blacked out for Thanksgiving.

So, here is what we would do. From the 20-24 stay at the GF. Then the 24-27 stay at the Poly. We still want to do deluxe dining. Now, could someone explain to me how the tickets, dining, pricing, etc work?

I figured we would still be able to use the 40% code for the GF. But no code for the Poly. Would we have to buy tickets on each reservation? Or could we purchase them on the first? And dining, it would be applied to each reservation?

I am thinking if that is the case, we would end up spending more doing a spilt instead of just sticking with the GF the entire time. Is that correct?

I am completely confused... Help! :headache:

A split stay is nothing more than 2 separate reservations at 2 resorts.

If you want dining, you will have to purchase tickets as well. A lot of time it works out well for people to use a room only discount code with one resort stay and then do a package with tickets and dining for the other part of the stay. If you want dining for both reservations, you will have to buy at least a 1 day park ticket for each reservation (unless you are an AP holder).

If there is availability, you should be able to use the 40% off code for both reservations. Here would be a breakdown of expenses...

11/20-11/24 @ GF

Room with 40% off = $_____
8 day tickets = $______
Deluxe Dining for 4 nights = $______

11/24-11/27 @ Poly
Room with 40% off = $______
1 day tickets = $______
Deluxe Dining for 3 nights = $______

I believe you can add a no expiration to your 1 day tickets for your stay at the Poly to use for another trip.

No need to add No Exp. option as the 1 day ticket will never expire anyway. Tickets expire 14 days after first use - if you don't use it, it won't expire.

we are going to try a split stay this year. We are going to only do 2 nights at our second resort because we have the dining plan with our first room. We figured that way we can use the dining plan up until midnight of our switch day. We figure we will only have one full day w/ out the dining plan.

Thanks! This was the breakdown I needed. The tickets and the dining plan were what were confusing me. And as for the 40% at the Poly, as of now I can't use it because the days are blacked out. It would be pretty awesome if I could get the discount for both places, but no such luck. Yet.... I think we will just stick with the GF for now and if any other discounts come up, then change to a split.

Hi,

We're checking in on the 18th at the GF and staying through the 26th. :wave2: You might want to consider how crowded it will be on that Weds. trying to move and check in. The crowds will be pouring in. I've also never seen any discounts given on an actual holiday but I guess it is possible if they have empty rooms. We also have the 40% code except for Weds. and Thurs. I hate having to pay full price for a room. We are staying with grandparents and I don't want to have them switch resorts.

It seems like a transfer would be a pain. Because the gf and the poly are neighbors you'll still be able to visit and enjoy the poly but stay at the gf. We've walked from the gf to the poly and it was an easy 5-10 minute walk if you don't want to wait for the monorail. And I'm sure that as soon as you get to Disney your kids will be happy to be there no matter where they sleep!

The crowds are something to consider. But I don't think we would mind the transfer. It seems pretty simple. Not alot to do on our part other then to give the bags to the bellhop at GF, check in at the Poly and then once we are in our room call for our bags. Seems pretty simple. We typically live out of our bags when we travel. So, we really wouldn't even have to re-pack.

Right now, its still just a consideration. If -and only if- we get a discount for the remaining 3 days, will we really do it. I am not going to pay more for a split stay then I would for a week at one place.

Oh and pirateofthecarolinas watch for us there! We will be the 3 blonde girls with the tall dark haired dude, with the really southern accents who talk to everyone! LOL

Wow, I can't imagine wanting to cut down a GF stay to do a split! But that said, the PP is right that they are so close that you could easily spend some time there with a TS meal or two and let the kids get into planning the NEXT trip!

Something to consider other than cost - on your transfer day you are basically "homeless" for most of the day. You need to be out of your first room at 11 and you most likely will not get into your second room until late in the afternoon,.

I doubt we would even notice the accent. It would sound like home. Maybe he can play my DH in a game of ping-pong.
