Ok, we would like to go to WDW for five days to include a weekend. How do we go about getting tickets to the actual park? Is one deal better than another? Help!! BTW, money is an issue:( But isn't it always?

OK. Weekends or weekdays, it doesn't matter. It will be the same price. What will make the price go up are the options. Do you want to add the park hopper, dining option, or no expiration option? This will all add to the price. As far as price, you can check with your AAA agent, if you have one handy, to see what they can do for you. You can go to dreamsunlimitedtravel.com also. You can also usually get discounted tickets if you are willing to take a timeshare tour. That will take the most part of a morning but sometimes it is worth it when you consider what you get in return.

You have many different options for park passes. It is called Magic Your Way...you can buy passes for one park a day, for each day of your trip. Or you can buy park passes that allow you to 'hop' between the different parks each day, or you can add an option that makes the unused days on your pass good forever. Or you can buy an option that allows you to use the water parks. there are a ton of ways to do it. And the longer you stay, the cheaper a day it is for park passes. I'm sure this all makes no sense whatsoever...allears.net has a good area for explanation, try looking here at the DIS under Tickets up above.

You aren't going to find many discounts though...you can save a few dollars off here and there, but not much. If you want to be able to have the dining plan added you are going to have to book a package deal. If it is your first trip to WDW you may just want to stay in one park per day...that will cut down on the cost a bit.

Honestly, we want to keep things simple. One park is enough. Options that would include meals are fine *if* it's cost effective. Any ideas?

If you buy the "base" ticket, you can chose which park you want to go to that day without hopping back and forth between parks. A base ticket is good for use at any of the following: Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, MGM, or Epcot. You could buy the base tickets and go to each of the parks on separate days or chose to go to the same park every day.

If you're going to arrive late or leave early, I suggest not buying a ticket for that day, if you can stand not going to a park. On our first day, we always arrive early but, this year, we're just going to relax at the resort and expore.

If you want to sit down for table service meals, then the dining plan may be for you. We like to have a sit down meal every day to cool off and relax but, it makes costs go up.

Cool-not to sound like an idiot, but what exactly do the base tickets include? All rides? All shows? what does it not include?

A base ticket includes admission to , Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, MGM, and Epcot. You'll be permitted to ride all the rides and see all the shows in each of the parks. It doesn't include the carnnival type games at Animal Kingdom nor does it include the shooting arcade in Magic Kingdom.

The only way you can get dining with a ticket is to purchase a complete package from Disney, room, ticket and dining, all at one time. You can't buy tickets from here, your room from there and add dining. Has to be all at one time through Disney directly.

Are you going to stay on site? That's where you have to stay to get a package. If you stay off site and get a Time Share presentation deal, that's something different, just a day or two admission to the park.

My cousin was coming with us in October, and I sent her to the sites, links regarding admission tickets and she says she got a headache reading it all. She called up Disney and the CM took her slowly through the options. She may not have saved much, whatever the advance purchase savings was, but she was happy.

We had friends with us in December who had never been to Disney, and they bought 3 day non-hoppers, that did expire from AAA. We/they had a great time, and because we went to MVMCP, they did get to see all parks, one a day.

Best wishes as you decide. Just ask, people here will walk you through whatever you need to know.

Bobbi :)

I would recommend you either spend a lot of time on the internet lurking here and at the official Disney website, or go to your local bookstore and get a guidebook. There are several that will answer your questions. We like Birnbaum, but there is an unofficial guide that many like.

If this is your first trip to WDW, you will have more questions than you will have time to write here. There are so many ticket, meal and lodging options that it can be confusing to even a seasoned traveler.
