Explain cancellation policy please

We have a big family trip planned for HH in May. We have 7 studios plus a 2 bedroom for us reserved on points. Three of the studios are for my sister and her family. Her MIL is not doing well. She has cancer. If there was a problem and they needed to cancel last minute, what happens to my points for those three studios? Also, what if they did go and had to check out a few days early due to an emergency with her MIL back home? The points are borrowed from my Dec. '04 use year. Thanks for the info.

If you cancel at 30 days or less, they go into a "holding" account and can only be used to make reservations 60 days before travel. If you cancel 31 days or more, the points revert back to their initial status at the time of the reservation.

Since you say these are borrowed points they will have to be used by the end of your current Use Year (Nov. 30, 2004) and can't be banked (regular Use Year points would have this option if you were within banking deadlines).

The points are also considered used once the reservation begins.

However, if you face a crisis situation, discuss your options with the front desk (if they are leaving early) and with MS. Sometimes they can help work things out.
