Expiring Points for Perks

So I have some extra DVC points from a borrowing mix-up for my current use year. I know they can't be banked, but I found out that a friend will be headed down to Disney/Universal before they expire. They have a VRBO already booked, but could I book them a DVC room (if available) so they could take advantage of the perks. Thinking that if they just "check-in" to that hotel but don't sleep in it (I suppose they could use is if they wanted) they could get free parking, 7day LL, etc? Had anyone else ever done something similar to that?

That's very generous of you to give a hotel room just for the purpose of parking, 7 day LL, etc. I would imagine you could still rent out the points or transfer them to recoup some of the cash you spent at least on dues.

But to answer your question, I would think that's completely acceptable, but I have never done anything like that.

There isn't really many rooms left as the dates are close, but thought why not since they just disappear if they don't get used. Figured it might be ok, but dont want to get them or myself in trouble

I booked a throwaway room like that once to use for Moonlight magic. Never checked in bc we were staying at universal.

yep. I mean they wouldn't know any differently until after the event was starting so I don't think it would matter. I just had to book a room for the night to have a chance to book the MM event.
