Have you ever been in the situation where your points are going to expire? I had 13 points that were 2009 banked points used in a ressie for Jan 2011. I had to cancel the trip and have the points to use or lose. Cannot rent/ transfer them and will not be able to use the points myself. Even to try a Concierge College would cost me a LOT more points. My DH said "Well to go to WDW would cost a lot more than just loosing them." I just bothers me to have to let them go.
So have you had the same heartbreaking experience?

:guilty: Like watching a train wreck.....nothing you can do.

Why can't you rent them? It sounds as though they are good at least thru the end of January, 2011 so they could still be rented.

Since I have never rented points before, I'm not sure of the exact process to rent. I assume that I need to secure a ressie for someone. I suppose that I could try to rent them on the Rent/Trade boards?!?!?!

I have 12 banked 2009 points that expire the end of February that we won't be able to use. They will just expire also. I am trying to upgrade our stay next week to a 2 bedroom for the last 3 nights, but there is no availability. We won't be going back to Disney again until next May, so I won't have any other opportunity to use them.

I have run into the same problem but luckily I have a relative in Long Beach, CA that love Disneyland. They would never stay overnight at the park because they live so close but I offered them a night at the Disneyland Hotel and they had a blast.

Can you gift them? Maybe the people at Make-A-Wish can help? They grant wishes to WDW. Then at least they would go to a good cause to someone who really needed/wanted them.

It seems your best bet is to rent them cheap on Disboards since your total number of points is low. At least if they get rented, you will get something out of them. It is hard to just watch them go. Best of luck!

We use them to make a quick trip to HH for a night or two and enjoy the resort activities (especially inexpensive in points during the winter months). If it's possible to drive there (not the OP, but thinking of the poster from GA) it's a decent use of a few points.

All ideas are great. I am looking for a quick trip end of Jan. As long as they are booked before Jan 31 they can be used.

Try Dave.

Not for tax purposes, but what we did was offer a two night stay for a volunteer at Give the Kids the World. That's a wonderful organization which helps children live their dream in Orlando. The kids are too sick to be in regular rooms, so they stay in the GTKTW complex.

We contacted the organization with what we could offer, and they got back to me with the name, and I set the stay up.:thumbsup2

I will look into the organization and see what I can do with the points!:thumbsup2

Contacted the organization. Waiting to see if they can use the points. Thanks for the suggestion!:flower3:
