EXPIRED: Part ONE of 2015 CLUB LEVEL (CL) INFORMATION and HELP Thread DO NOT POST HERE!!!

Hello, newbie here. Considering some sort of CL stay this year.

I'm a little confused and can't seem to find the answer or photos to show the difference, if there is one: At the Contemporary, are there two different Club levels? Tower and Atrium? If so, what is the difference?

I don't hear too much about club level at this resort.

Yes, there are two lounges. The Atrium Club is in the 12th floor for guests staying in the rooms on that floor. It's the size of 3 standard rooms. The Tower Club is on the 14th floor, and it's for the use of guests in the suites and rooms on that floor. There are fewer rooms up there, so the club is a bit smaller - the size of two rooms. The balcony outside of the Tower club is a bit bigger, and there are chairs and tables out there vs. standing room only on the 12th floor. The food offerings are the same for both clubs.

Hope this helps!

The 12th floor club level is the Atrium Club. You don't hear much about the 14th floor because it's very expensive. Tower club is what they always use to call it although I don't believe Disney uses this name anymore. Maybe they should rename them the "high roller suites" :rotfl: At about $1,500-2,500 a night on average we haven't had very many DISers come back with reports. But I'd love to add some photos and info if anyone has any. :D

Do you happen to know what type of rooms they have up there? Someone told me they only had king beds and suites, but that might be wrong.

I think there is one BLV 2Q room. 2 TPV King Rooms, and 2 TPV 2Q rooms on 14. The rest are suites. I believe all but the 2K rooms have connecting doors to the surrounding suites.

I don't even think there is a booking category for those rooms, when I go into the inventory online I can only see the suites as an option:

Here is the link to a map of the 14th floor(scroll down) http://www.contemporaryresort.net/towerclub.html

There are std rooms with wither the 2 queens or 1 king with daybed. Some people have been able to book these with discounts but they are not online you have to call. Disney does not always know what they are so it helps if YOU DO!

The advantage is a larger balcony and quieter lounge. Disadvantage for some is the funky room/bath layouts vs std rooms. Also the décor is different.

I called the IPO to ask about it, and they said that they used to be bookable categories, but not any longer. You can end up on 14 booking a regular room category, but you can't book it there.

That makes sense then. I was wondering how calling would really make a difference if the room category doesn't exist.

Yes, there are two levels. the CR has no 13th floor. ;)
The Atrium CL is the main CL. The top floor has a second CL, but the top floor is almost all large suites. For the most part, the top floor rooms don't show up online. CR is a convention hotel, and I think they are mostly used by corporate folks. It is possible to book them by calling. the upper CL is smaller than the Atrium CL.

Most rooms at CR sleep five. There are (or were) two rooms on the top floor that were king bed rooms, and there are (or were) two rooms on the top floor that sleep four people. I was there before the most recent remodel. When we stayed, the top floor had numerous problems with leaks. Once was plenty for us. Our room was in great need of a make over.

The Atrium floor has always been top notch. We've stayed a number of times. The 12th floor rooms are the same as the rest of the rooms in the main building (tower). You get a choice of two views: Standard, and Theme park view. Theme park looks over the parking lot, bus depot and MK. You can see the fireworks from your balcony, but also traffic at all hours.
We prefer the Standard view rooms (used to be called Bay Lake view, but that was confusing when BLT opened) the Standard view rooms face the pool and the lake. They offer a perfect view of the water parade (best on property!), they get afternoon shade, and the lounge has MK view.

Food offerings are similar to most CL's. It seemed like the CR had cut back a bit on our last visit. the lounge photos at the start of this thread are the Atrium lounge. Desserts are often tart style. Breakfast is pretty standard, but I wish they had more fruit. Oatmeal is good, with toppings. No eggs. Drink cooler with soft drinks.

The downside of CR is the lack of theming. The pool area is bland. The slide is fine, but not themed.

The upside of CR is the convenience to MK, all monorail dining, and the MK bus stop (guests can get a bus to/from all other WDW resorts for ADR's any time MK is open). If it is raining, a CR guest can get to dinner at GF without getting wet- even most GF guests can't do that.

So sorry to hear the CL is a let down. I'd be really annoyed by the limited options in CL if you aren't there right at the hour. And closing early would be annoying as well. Could you ask to speak to a manager? I mean there's quite a big price difference for CL to have these issues when the main cost is the lounge offerings.

Also frustrating about house cleaning and towel issues - so surprising!!

I think this is important - to truly ask to speak to a manager - and also when we get back home, if everyone writes to wdwguest communicate displeasure - that maybe things will change - this seems to be a "cost cutting" measure, it costs to have someone do turn down service, it costs to provide water bottles (why its more than providing other drinks is beyond me! You'd think they could get a discount and their costs can't be more than 50 cents a bottle of water)

We are so excited...just upgraded to club level using summer discount at WL for 6/16-6/23! We have stayed several times at WL but never club level.

oh, we're going to be there too - but then we move over to Beach club! (I'll probably be the one asking to talk to a manager if I get there before posted times and they are cleaning! ;) From what I've read WL CL is different than the BC - we're staying DVC at Beach Club!)

. For the price we paid, it really isn't excusable.
This. I think we should all leave it at this. I'm not trying to pick on you. There is no excuse for CL not having enough food for all guests. Disney has exact information about every guest! Surely they can figure out how much food each guest wants. I don't think it is acceptable to blame the guests.

I posted a bit back that on our last two CL stays there was a marked reduction in food availability. I tried to be light about it because we were at different resorts. Two years ago, staff put out trays of appetizers. Now they put tiny samples on large spoons or mini plates, and only 15 micro servings at one time- knowing there are 30 people in the lounge! At GF, they offer several kinds of fruit, to be sure, but the blueberry serving bowl is less than 1/2 cup - for EVERYONE! One berry per person? Huh?

CL costs about $140 extra per day. Here's a rough breakdown:
one adult - $140 per day,
two adults+ two kids under 18: $35 per person per day
three adults - $55pp per day (if you include extra person up charge)

Truly, there is no way anyone staying solo is eating $140 worth of food each day!

Seeing one guest carrying food back to the room is also meaningless. Lots of times, I've stayed CL with extended family (ten people in three rooms) Lots of times we send one person to get gummy bears for the group while the kids nap -that plate serves 7 people!

That said, lots of times the CL staff cleans up by 10. I agree, they should have something out until close, but I bet WDW doesn't pay them overtime.

WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS?

At the end of April I am taking my older mother to Disney for the F&G Festival and we will be staying CL at BWI for the second time:flower3: This trip we are planning on meeting my mother's brother and his wife for dinner at Flying Fish. If after dinner we want to take them up to the CL Lounge is this allowed or inappropriate? Alternatively, if we decide not to sit in the CL Lounge, can I take a glass of wine and join them somewhere else, such as the patio off of Belle Vue Lounge or can you not take alcohol outside the club level areas? Thanks for your help, on our first stay CL we didn't take advantage of many of the offerings other than breakfast and maybe a soda later in the day.

We booked a few years back by calling. CM gave me an option at the time. In my earlier post, I said I suspect these rooms are often compted to corporate guests. The one time we got it- we booked OVER a YEAR in advance during SLOW season.

Just because a phone CM doesn't know though, doesn't mean anything! You might want to try again maybe with different dates.

I often know more than CM's. Back when CR tower Standard view was still called Bay Lake view, multiple CM's confused it with Bay Lake Tower.

Six months after we'd used the texting service at CR and GF, the CM's at AKL said it didn't (ever) exist!

Several times we have been given bottled water at CR...other visits they have told us they've NEVER provided Dasani bottled water!

Um , okay, we just imagined that we texted while drinking imaginary water and staying in an imaginary room category!

It's been a tiny while since we stayed at BWI, they've since changed the restaurant downstairs, but most CL's are now the same. Over time, all CL's have transitioned form glass bottles of Evian, to a water dispenser that has Natura brand water. If you look at lounge images from the start of this thread you'll see what I mean. The image from the Beach club has a clear image. Some of the lougnes have slightly different style dispensers. Since the Innkeepr's club was remodeled, it is almost certainly has something similar to the Beach Club one.

Water is always a bit of a challenge for us too. One option is the on-WDW Hess stations. You won't even need a car! There is a Hess station next door to the Boardwalk hotel. (corner of Buena Vista DR) Hess has basic brands like Dasani. On property, Car Care Centre Hess has the widest selection of brands.

Other options: I haven't done this in a while, but Costco used to deliver bottled water. (but I think BWK charges a package fee, as it has business customers) If we have a car, another option is to stop at the Whole Foods, just off I-4 coming from the airport (use north exit, take Sand Lake Rd exit them make quick u-trn). WF has more high end brands of water. It is alsoa great place to stop for a snack or meal. They have a large hot/cold bar, tons of soups, a fresh juice bar, etc. There are also several Publix around.

Other folks like to use their own water bottles, and the kind with a built in filter is popular. (Brita?) We tend to just use disposable bottles and refill them a bit. I also bring a short Sharpie marker to label them. If you are a DDP package, you could also use your refillable mugs.

Thank you very much for your enormously helpful answer! It was fantastic actually seeing what I would be dealing with as far as the water dispenser is concerned.

Generally CL guests are allowed to take alcohol to their rooms or elsewhere, but probably only one cup - and you will have to pour it into a paper cup!

You MAY be allowed to let your mom come up if you ask permission. Probably, I have heard of others doing this before.

The CL's have cut down on paper products offered, but CL guests are supposed to be able to take drinks to the pool. (NO GLASS)

If it were me, I'd just have everybody enjoy the Belle Vue lounge. The atmosphere is lovely there, and if the weather is beautiful, there is also the outside option. They have some nice wines by the glass.
Personally, I wouldn't try to bring a glass of wine all the way from the lounge. That's quite a long walk.
