Say something expired 2 days ago...would you still eat it??

What is it? If it's canned or boxed and sealed, I think it would be OK.

Personally... No. But I am overly peranoid about foodborne illiness.

usually yes, but it really depends on what it is...

It would depend on what it is. Chocolate....heck yeah. Milk....not on your life. Smell it, check it out, and ask if you would be comfortable eating it or not. We someitmes buy the prebagged salad and the dates usually dont go along with the life of the lettuce. Sometimes days before the expiration we toss it out because it looks really bad. Others, we can use it a week later and its still fresh. Just give it a once over and check it out.

It is a canned good. I just was not sure if it still tasted and smelt okay, if there could still be something wrong with it.

Your bean dip is fine. :teeth:

Sometimes dates are the sell by dates not the use by dates...does it say "use by" I usually go by look and smell to judge if I will use something, even if it has not passed the date.

most canned foods have a 2year shelf life... sometimes it makes me wonder ?? :confused3

I have eaten canned food YEARS after the expire date...it is fine.

If it looks or smells funny, I throw it away. Otherwise, I eat it. I'm 48 and it's never caused me a problem yet.

dairy...no way.

other stuff... it depends... I have to smell it first.. and poke at it...and take a little taste to see if it's still ok.. if it is then sure. :)
I also believe in the 10 second rule inside my house...but not on the street.

No way ~ Years ago I had food poisoning and have been paranoid about food issues since then.

DH and I are both very paranoid about expired things. If it was canned food or a box of macaroni and cheese we'd probably eat it a few days after. But dairy or meat or anything like that - forget it. We both have our reasons. My Grandma was slow to throw things out. One time I made a sandwich and then decided to check the date on the meat - it expired 2 months before that. So I have been very careful ever since. My MIL is notorious for keeping/serving expired stuff. Her favorite saying is "there aint a thing in the world wrong with that". DH and SIL play a game - who can find the most expired item in the fridge. Usually there's something at least a few months old. One Christmas MIL served a Hickory Farms meat stick thing as an appetizer - later we found out it was left from previous the Christmas!

No way would I eat it...as soon as it hits the expiration date it goes in the trash...
