I'm confused, why did they start making the expiration dates shorter?I'm confused, why did they start making the expiration dates shorter?

Well, as someone who grew up without expiration dates on anything, I don't pay much attention to them. If milk doesn't smell good, don't drink it. If sandwich meat looks discolored or smells off, don't use it. In other words, before expiration dates if we bought something we used it as needed and never thought anything about it, aside from using common sense.

Pop, what's that?!?! Just kidding! Where I live, we call everything Coke.![]()
I wouldn't go more than a couple of weeks past the exp date. I think something happens with the sugar in it...I dunno but it gets syrupy and tastes gross.![]()

All were diet, so it wasn't a difference between regular and diet. And the Coke's were recent as they contained the most recent Beijing Olympics can.If it's diet, it's pretty much right at the due date -- otherwise, it starts to taste nasty.
I'm not sure about the other.
diet tasts nasty regardless of date![]()
actually we don't buy soda or drink it anymore. the only time the kids have it is at a restaurant, movies or friends house. soda is soooooo bad for your body (diet too) that i refuse to have it in the house and make it a regularly used beverage.
