Expert help needed. MB/FP onsite and off

DD and I are staying at POFQ next month. DS and his friend are joining us but staying offsite. I already made FP's for all of us using tickets bought from UT but linked to our MDE accounts. DS has an account because he has taken many trips with us where he stayed onsite. Now I'm not clear on how Ds and friend will actually get their FP's if they have no MB. Will they be loaded onto the paper UT ticket? And if I linked this ticket to his MDE does he HAVE to get a MB????? So confused.

He can use his ticket. It's not paper, it's a plastic RFID ticket.

Did you have the tickets mailed to you or buy the e tickets? UT has these explanations on their site:

"Mailed Ticket: Go straight to the gate and onto the rides. No will call exchange necessary. This is the exact same ticket you would receive at the gate. You may link this ticket to My Disney Experience for FastPass+ reservations and add it to your MagicBand.

E-Ticket: Add this E-Ticket to your MagicBand and go straight to the gate and onto the rides. (MagicBand not included with this purchase.) If you do not have a MagicBand, you must exchange this E-Ticket at a will call location for a RF-enabled ticket before admission. You may link this E-Ticket to My Disney Experience for FastPass+ reservations before will call exchange."

The fastpasses are linked to their MDE accounts. It's up to you (them) how they choose to utilize them in the park (hard ticket or magic band). Either way, if you got e tickets you'll need to exchange for a hard ticket or buy magic bands.

No,the ticket and the band serve the same purpose and do the same things.

His FPs are linked to his MDE account where his ticket is linked.

That's how his ticket will provide the link to his FPs - it all goes through the data in his MDE account. No guest really needs a MagicBand if they have a plastic ticket.
