We would like to fly from Philly or AC to Orlando on August 23rd. We have never used priceline and would appreciate adivce on how to receive a good deal using this site. Thanks!:D

If you don't like flights at ungodly hours, don't use Priceline for airplane tickets.

Otherwise...

Shop around yourself first. If you make a Priceline bid, it should be near or lower than the lowest bid you obtained elsewhere.

For things like airline fares, if the date you want to travel has a somewhat higher fare than other dates, try a Priceline bid for the date you want but using the lowest fare you can find for any date.

Often after you make a Priceline bid and it is rejected, Priceline will suggest a higher bid for you.

Generally you should not make this bid, but rather make another bid much lower, closer to your first bid.

I agree, check out www.biddingfortravel.com and read all the FAQs before you post! Cheryl is indeed a great administrator but she expects you to come prepared. Kind of like a strict teacher.

Priceline has not been offering rates as low as they used to. Sometimes Hotwire even beats them. Generally I check rates on Hotwire first and then bid a good deal lower on Priceline.

Good luck!

That's a good way to put it! I must admit that I flinch every time she responds "Please read the FAQ" in response to someone's question. We are much more lenient on the DIS and will provide an answer to the same question that has been posted 100 times in the past.

Keep in mind with PL you have no idea if you'll be on the first or last flight of the day. Don't use PL if you have plans for 8/23. You could wind up getting in at midnight.

There are lots of posts from people who have gotten good flights but just as many from people who lost the first and/or last day of their vacation.

I'd check for flights into Tampa as a way to save $ before I'd use PL.
