We found a Continental flight from Midway to MCO for our dates of 11/23 to 12/2 on Travelocity for $176 rt. We hav enever flown Continental or used Travelocity. Any thoughts/experiences/problems?

I would just book directly through Continental.com, and you would avoid the service charge's.

I NEVER book through consolidators or travel agencies for airplane tickets. I sometimes will use them to research fares, then book directly with the carrier.

It's the best way to be sure you will be notified of schedule changes for starters.

As far as CO, I've done a lot of flying with them. I'm angry with them right now about something that happened on my last flight, and am waiting on resolution of that issue. But in general they've been OK.

I agree with Anne and mrf777. Book directly at continental.com. You save the service fee and you can easily track your tickets and print out boarding passes. We've flown Continental many times with no problems. We find it's usually better to deal directly with the airline.

When you book, just make sure you print out your confirmation sheet or write down your confirmation/reservation ID.

I live in NJ and Continental is our hub airport here so i have flown them a lot.I personally have no issues with CO.I know why Ducklite is angry at them, and while i dont blame her, i think it was more of a case of a few poorly trained/unhelpful employees than a flaw with Continental.Which she herself admits above.

Theyre not the roomiest carrier out there, but their not the least roomy either. They have a decent on time record. I have never had lost luggae with them. The only other carriers that i would say are better are JetBlue (very $$ now) and United (great FF program)

All in all i think if its a good price you should go for it.But i agree that you should skip travelocity, as it will change some of your options with regards to cancellations and price credits.Plus they add fees on top of CO.

Heres the deal It's VERY hard to find an airline EVERYONE likes and NO one has had a bad experience on (Singapore Air comes to mind, but they don't fly to MCO)

However, my impression of Travelocity is that as a TA they are pretty useless. I agree if you can get the same airfare on CO directly book there. However, in rare instances Travelocity and Expedia have 'negoiated' deals you can only book on those sites. There is no real risk, but just don't plan on them helping you in any way!

Every now and then, you will find that Travelocity shows fares LOWER than you might see if booking directly thru an airline. I use Travelocity to track fares but always then check the airline's own website to see if I can do better (and as others have said, Travelocity does charge a small service charge). In 2004, I booked 2 ROUND TRIP tickets from RDU to Rome, Italy thru Travelocity for under $500 (total..for both!) and they ended up being first class seats! Most likely was a HUGE mistake on Travelocity's part but I am certainly glad I checked them! Before Travelocity started tacking on their service fee, I booked airline tickets thru them all the time and NEVER had any problems.
