I tried the search function, but, well...you know. :rotfl2:

I'm considering Curves because I like the women's only aspect as well as the 30 minutes and out. Can any of you share personal experiences both good and bad?

Thanks!

Hi. I was a member of Curves and loved it when I first joined. Then I got pregnant with my third and didn't go until after I delivered her and it just wasn't it for me. I joined another gym (with a daycare). I like just to walk on a treadmill and lift some weights. For me, Curves didn't do it for me after a while. But that's just me. I know others who love it.

I've never done Curves. I've heard from some who have though.

I think the answer lies with your current exercise level. As I understand it is a great place for beginners. It gets things going and moving. You control the amount youget from it as you challenge/push yourself--but that is tru for all choices.

After time though I am told that you will need to move to a gym that offers more of a challenge. So if you can get a membership for a time and renew for short periods up to maybe a year or until you feel you you are ready to move on to another place then I'd say go for it!

I totally agree with Tiger Lily 03. I think that's exactly what happened with me. I needed a jump start because I was not excersing but once I did regularly it wasn't enough for me. :yay:

I joined Curves in May after a three week fitness study and I have lost over 13" in that time frame. I haven't lost weight, but I am in maintenance so that isn't my goal, but the bonus of losing inches has been very gratifying. I like the fact that it is all women and that I can get a workout in 30 minutes, sometimes I go a little longer, it all depends on how I feel. It can get routine after a while so that is why they offer an advanced workout that will help challenge you further. I haven't gotten to the point where I want to do the advanced workout, but knowing I have the option is always nice. I have to agree that Curves is for someone who does not have an exercise routine, or is for someone wanting to maintain or someone who just wants to get some sort of exercise to maintain a healthy lifestyle. After 7 months I am still content and I go three to four times a week.

I think Curves is okay for a beginner or someone who is trying to maintain their weight loss. I tried Curves for about 5 months a couple of years ago. I lost 25 pounds but hit a plateau and Curves didn't help me after that. Their machines are on the same resistance level constanly and you only exercise on each step for 30 seconds. I go to a place similar to curves now, called Simply Fit. Simply Fit has treadmills and elipticals ( those are tough). My new place offers alot of different classes like yoga, pilates, upper body blast, total body sculpt, kardio kick, etc. I have lost 32 pounds and haven't hit a plateau yet. If I do hit that Plateau I will just step up my exercise. Sorry if I sound so negative about Curves but I became very discouraged after awhile there and it seemed like I was getting nowhere.
