We're giving tickets to the Transiberian Orchestra "Lost Christmas Eve" concert to our daughter and her boyfriend. The concert is on Dec. 14th, so they will get the tickets early. I added a parking pass and restaurant GC to the package so that they can make a full night of it.

I'm getting the same gift for Dec 22nd for my family. A great experience.

The DW and I are giving all 4 sets of our parents a movie night at home which includes:

  • Fleece blanket
  • Set of Christmas candles
  • DVD movie
  • Bag of microwave popcorn
Just hope they think it's a neat idea. popcorn::

I am giving a family photo session with some free portraits to one of my volunteer families. They have 6 children and don't take pictures often.

Another family is getting bowling passes with a pizza gift card.

I'm sending my sister in law a hotel stay for her and her husband and including a "romantic" basket because they haven't had much time together lately. They don't need anything and really don't treat themselves often.

We send flowers every year on Christmas Eve to my husband's grandparents. It makes a beautiful centerpiece and they appreciate something they can throw away and not dust later on.

I usually get my parents a GC to a nice restaraunt and either tickets to a Broadway show or movie tickets.

I like to do this bc it gets them out of the house for a date night!

Last year we gave our niece and our daughter a tour of the Lemurs at Duke University for Christmas. We took the tour in April when the weather was good.

I always want to do something like this for my in-laws but my husband always shoots it down!

Last year I got DH (and me) theater tickets.

We always do experiences instead of more "stuff" for the inlaws. All kinds of sporting events, theatre, attraction tickets and a plan to spend the day with them. This year we are giving them TSO tickets as that is what they wanted.

My sons grandpa is taking him to some sort of Monster Truck thing (thank you Papa for sparing me that outing:scared:). I got dd Taylor Swift tickets.

Dh and I are only getting eachother a few very small items as our trip to Disney is in February and we'd much rather have the extra for that.

I am waiting for the day that I can talk the family into a trip as their Christmas present but so far they'd prefer to be home and visit family and get toys etc.

We are getting science museum year passes, we moved this year and haven't been yet so it will be a good "excuse" to get them.

I am getting my 15yo a gc for a go-karting place that you have to be 15 or older to drive at and another one for indoor skydiving.

Thinking about getting the 10 yo a GC to go white water rafting next summer with DH while the other kids are at summer camp. (DH gets 4 wks of vacation and I get 2).

ETA - it's a definite. Now I just have to get a White Water Rafting T-shirt and the GC.

Last year DD and SIL gave us tickets to Cirque de Soleil. FABULOUS.

This year we are giving DS and DDIL airplane tickets so they can fly to see us. (That is really also a gift to me, but they don't "get" that yet. Shhh:goodvibes)

Two years ago I gave DH tickets to Blue Man Group. Last year, knowing I would be flying to Thailand, he gave me a tiny stuffed toy elephant with a $100 bill rolled between it's tusks. That funded my elephant ride through the forest.

We like experience gifts. Hockey tickets, Disney on ice, zoo membership, watermark season pass, movie money, museum of science and industry passes. I like annual passes since they are used all year long :)

I just thought of another one though not for Christmas. Everyone in our house (except for me) has a birthday in the same 6 day span. It will be dd's 16th birthday and I am hoping to take her to Boston and spend the day in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. She would absolutely LOVE it. I will try to find an activity for Dh and ds as well. They are both huge basketball fans so I am hoping to get them tickets to the Celtics game that is actually on the night of dh's birthday.
Then I'll plan a nice dinner out and some more sightseeing for our other two days!:yay:
I'm excited.

We are giving each of our 4 kids an experience gift this year
18 ds - concert tickets for him and his girlfriend (he will help select)
17 ds - day trip to New York city for him and dad
12 dd - One Direction concert tickets
7 dd - Wicked tickets (traveling show)

We often give experience or travel gifts to our kids and my side of the family. We have discussed doing this with dh's side of the family members, but they are not open to it. We offered last year to buy a zoo or museum membership for sil and her family, and they politely said no thanks.

Experience gifts are the best in my eyes. My SIL was not so enthusiastic about a museum membership. They went only once! Hope everyone loves their presents!
