We are staying at the Grand Californian Concierge on points this week and experienced great GGH/DVC customer service so I thought I'd share (especially given the upcoming opening of VGC this fall).
We checked in on Sunday and even though we reserved a Garden View room, we were on the side of the garden that faces DLR and got to see the fireworks from our balconey the first night. It was such a treat! I think we had a better view than the Concierge viewing deck! The Concierge level was wonderful, I'll write more about that later if anyone is interested.
We had sleepless nights the first two nights due to a broken kitchen fan. We reported it the second night when it didn't get better and they said because it was needed for the kitchen, they couldn't turn it off. They swiched us to another room the next day and credited us points for the first two nights. Because it was Concierge level that was 88 points! We had wanted to stay Fri night too but didn't have enought points when I made our original reservation, so I asked if we could use those credited points towards a Fri night stay. A woman named Diane at the front desk took care of everything for me. She called MS to make sure they received the point credit email and while on the phone rebooked us for Fri night and didn't charge us the $95 fee. I thought I was going to have to spend some of my precious vacation time to get the rebooking worked out, but she magically took care of it for me. Thanks Diane!
We now have an extra night/day to enjoy the parks and the beautiful Grand Californian Hotel. I can't wait for the villas to open. The hotel has wonderful service and the new villas are going to be beautiful!
