This May trip will be our first time in a Studio unit. It is myself and DH. We have a split stay, with 3 nights at AKV and 3 nights at BWV.

I know when we've booked 1 bedroom units, there has always been an ample supply of start up towels, with extra hand towels and wash cloths. Being as neither resort stays will have a trash and towel day, I'm considering getting the extra towel package for both resorts. I don't mind reusing my towels at home, but when in Florida, they just don't seem to dry well in the humidity.

My question to anyone who has frequently booked studios. What is the initial towel supply. Is it 4 each? or do they throw in a couple extra for good measure. Just wondering if I really need to order the extra supply or if we can get by with the initial supply. :confused3

We stay in studios often. There is usually 4 bath towels, 4 hand towels and 4 washcloths. There is usually always a towel Mickey on the bed made of 2 hand towels and 1 bath towel that you can use. We find that it's adequate.

We hang up damp towels and they seem to dry well enough also.

We stay in the studios 90% of the time. We have found that there are plenty of towels for the two of us to cover a 5 day reservation.
Many times on the 5 day stays we choose not to have the T&T day.

If a DVC guest needs more towels I hope they do the right thing and buy a towel pack rather than taking towels from the pool. Taking pool towels passes the cost of one's extra towels to the owners of that resort.

With DVC every guest gets a basic level of services. If they want more, they can get it by paying more whether it's towels, toiletries or an extra full cleaning during their stay. I hope that members will be honest and pay for extra towels if they need them and not pass the cost on to others by taking them from the pool.

New soon-to-be owner here...any reason we couldn't launder our hotel towels for reuse? Or even possibly bring our own towels from home? This seems to be the way we are leaving for our one bedroom stay coming up and possibly for some of our future studios days.

If you're in a 1-bedroom, it's definitely easy to launder the towels you're given. I generally use less soap than many people, so the one box they give you at the start of your stay works for two loads for me. Also, a couple of "pod" type detergents in a Ziploc bag brought from home will take up very little space in your suitcase and allow you to do laundry in your room as often as you wish.

I think the issue here, with the OP, is that studios do not have washer/dryer combos in the room and, as such, one would have to go to the shared laundry facilities room in order to wash and dry their towels. For the purposes of this specific question, with only three nights at one place, I think it very likely that the initial outlay of towels will be sufficient for two people.

You can absolutely wash your towels. Being in a 1 bedroom makes it easy. Plus with a dryer in your villa you can toss damp towels in for a quick dry.
Even if you are in a studio they have free laundry facilities. We bring our own detergent because they supply only one box.

We used to bring beach/pool towels from home but don't bother any more. And if we do take a towel or two from the pool we always return them to the pool.

We launder our own if need be when in a 1 bedroom, normally the counts for amenities equals the rooms basic occupancy count.

Often the Mousekeepers will give you extras if you ask nicely. :goodvibes

When we have stayed in studios, I have bought the extra towel pack. I usually just call mousekeeping and tell them that they only need to bring me the extra bath towels. We like to have them and the $6 it would cost is well worth it.

So far, we have not been charged. I even saw it on my bill but a credit was put there....when I went to the front desk, they said it was a little bit of magic and I was all set.

I was expecting to pay and would have been very happy to.

I agree. The OP will get four bath towels which should be adequate for two people for three days. I think the biggest problem is not the number of towels you get but with the lack of places to hang them up to dry. I wish they had a spare towel rack or more hooks or something in the studios. I don't need a fresh towel for every shower but I do like a dry towel and that can be a challenge.

Sorry new to DVC..
We have always taken towels back to our resort rooms when staying at the regular resorts After swimming..
I don't like my kids walking back to our rooms a dripping all the way through the resort

How would this be different, if taken back to a DVC room? Please explain

If you are at the pool and want to wrap up in a towel to walk back to the room and then return the towel to the pool area, no problem. The issue is when DVC guests want fresh towels in the room (to use when showering) but don't want to pay $6 for a towel pack. So they go to the pool area, grab an armload of towels and take them back to the room.

With DVC, we pay for everything we get through our dues. Those who want more than what is usually supplied are expected to pay for it themselves ($6 for a towel pack, $5 for extra toiletries, etc.) That keeps dues lower for those who are happy with the basic amenities provided.

So just making sure i understand..
So what your saying is if this becomes a more common thing
Disney will start putting more towels in DVC rooms, and the cost of those extra towels will be passed on in MF right?

I get it..
We are normally fine with the amount of towels.. For showering
Plus a few from the pool after swimming (which I now know to return) thanks!

I'm saying that we pay for pool maintenance including the cost to launder the towels through our dues. The more pool towels that get used the higher the cost to launder them. If a few people grab pool towels to use in the room it's negligible. If lots of people decide to do it, it will become a significant expense so we shouldn't encourage people to do that instead of paying for what they need by purchasing a towel pack.

I see... anything to keep dues down!

A few years ago, we were told that pool towels are laundered by a different group not by the resort laundries. The cost of separating the towels and transporting to the pool towel group was becoming an issue. We were asked to return any pool towels taken to the room to the pool towel return.

Don't know if this is still true today.

This makes perfect sense to me.

But what if one takes a towel from the room and leaves it wet at the pool? Room towels and pool towels look and feel nothing alike except they are both white.

Same thing in reverse, I guess. Once the towels are RFID tagged, mixing and missing will be a thing of the past. :rolleyes1

Thank you all for your input. I think I will access the situation upon arriving at each resort and decide if I need to buy additional..[I probably will].
For the $6 it's worth it to me to feel a little spoiled on vacation.
