I was speaking to the Disney Customer Service Rep for the Magical Express. She indicated that it may take up to 4 hours to get the luggage from the airport to the resort in DW.

We are staying at ASM and will be arriving in Orlando Airport at 8pm on Saturday. Because the flight is rather late....I'm concerned that the luggage may arrive at the resort too late.

From those that have used Magical Express to deliver the luggage ( whether it is to ASM or any other Disney resort ), how long did it take you to get your luggage?

I'm thinking that I will pack sleeping clothes in a carry on and bring it with me separately.

Try posting this on the transportation board. They have many posts regarding ME.

We stayed at ASMo earlier in July. Our flight landed at 2:30. We got to the ME counter at about 3:30 (we met someone we knew in the airport on the way). We were checking in at ASMo about 4:45 pm after a 20-30 min wait on the bus for more passengers to load. We went right to MGM and stayed thru Illuminations. Our bags were in our room when we got back, but that was a good 5 hrs later, so I don't know how long it actually was for them to arrive. I guess I am not much help :confused3 At least it was less than 5 hrs :rotfl2: Have a great trip!

I must sound like a broken record to folks who browse around here all the time, but it's ALWAYS advisable to bring supplies for the first 24 hours in your carry on. Hasn't anyone ever heard of an AIRLINE delaying or losing luggage??? To me, that's what carry-ons are for, to provide you with some basics in case your luggage is delayed or lost.

Sure, having your luggage handled by 2 systems (airline and then DME) increases the chance for problems, but I would think that, at least statistically speaking, the problems have been quite minimal. Look at it this way. Let's say they handle 5,000 guests a day (an estimate I read from a CM a while back), and DME has been running for about 75 days so far. That's 375,000 guests with luggage. How many posts have we read about lost luggage? Very, very few.

I think people get "impressed" with one or two posts about lost luggage and tend to forget the hundreds of posts from people like me who had positive experiences with DME. It's kind of like TV news -- you see stories on crime and fires but very few stories about the good normal stuff that happens every day.
