Experience with Avis Preferred?

I am taking a business trip to Orlando in November. Our corporate rental co is now Avis and I signed up for the Preferred Program. Does anyone have any experience with this at MCO? Do I go straight to the garage? I have always used National but now have to use Avis for business. I was hoping National would have a better rate then I would have an excuse to use them but the Avis corporate rate was cheaper. I understand they have a car waiting with your paperwork? I'm thinking of standing by for an earlier flight down, would I have to go to the counter then?

My husband is Avis preferred. As you probably know Avis is onsite at MCO. You just go straight to the garage, show them your license, they hand over the key and paperwork and you're out of there.

He prefers Hertz Gold there because he gets a free upgrade. I prefer Avis because you don't need to take a shuttle.

As far as your standby flight, I don't know the answer. I would call and ask. Perhaps you should just make your reservation for the earliest you could be there. I don't think your rental will actually start until you pick the car up.
