experience at Universal

Where is mptofox4, the original poster anyway? Another hit and run posted for the intent to ruffle some feathers.

it's usually this case fan2cskr...........a person posts very critically about UO without much merit , then makes another comment based on the reply to the original statement.

then they vanish.

and here we sit ..............eating the popcorn waiting for the op.....
:rotfl2:

Fan2CSkr - here i am.. not everyone has all day to sit and watch what happens and what is posted on all of these boards. And no, my intent was NOT to make a post and "ruffle some feathers". My post was just as it says - i just wanted to state, as I am entitled to, my opinion of the park and that i was unhappy with my experience there and wanted to see if maybe by chance someone else had any similar experience while they went there. Just because I don't like it doesn't mean no one else should go there and that's not what I was implying by making my post. So what, I didn't enjoy the park, just as some people don't enjoy any other amusement type park. Each and every one of us is allowed to state how they feel about anything particular and that is just what I have done. I wasn't trying to make anyone mad or cause any hard feelings at all. There are good and bad things to every park - even Disney parks. There are quite a few parks that I've been to over the years that I didn't enjoy and won't visit again and if they had sites I could post my opinion on, I'd do it there too with the hope that maybe, just maybe, someone of importance might see what it was that made someone unhappy in that particular park and possibly do something to fix the problem so as to avoid having another unhappy visitor having the same experience (i.e. - if one of the CMs acted improperly toward someone, speak to that CM to see what happened and to be sure it won't happen again so as to avoid losing business). Anyway, I was only expressing my opinion and I believe that's what the boards are for. Just as with reviews posted on hotels around the world, people post both good and negative things about them but they're still in business regardless of any negative feedback, just as Universal and Disney are with the negative feedback some people have posted on them. People are going to visit and do whatever they want to do regardless of what other people say about it; if it's something they "really" want to do, they're going to do it anyway period.

This isn't a forum run by Universal, but a forum that is full of people who love Universal and those who are planning vacations. Starting a thread to state your negative opinions does nothing but discourage those thinking of going because it obviously is something that you felt strongly enough, two months after your visit, to come over here to do. I can see if you were responding to a thread, but starting a new one to say that the parks were boring seems like nothing but rubbing other people's noses in the fact that they don't find Universal boring but actually really enjoy it.

did i understand you correctly?
you posted here starting your own new thread in hopes someone of "importance" would read it and make changes?

i suggest you send an email to guest services if that was your intent.

people of importance would have a better opportunity to read what you have to say if you direct it there.

Thank you. ITA. I have yet to understand the reasoning of someone who hopes to bring about change through a message board (2 months later), but fails to complain to guest services at the time it happens. Guest services can correct the problem. This message board cannot. Why are posts of this intent and nature such a pandemic on this board? :confused3

Maybe it's because some people are just immature and do not know how to enjoy a theme park based on movies and tv shows. ;)

FYI - i did send a letter to Universal's customer service department and they did reply stating that they have in fact had similar complaints in the past and would like into the matter further. i highly compliment universal on their customer service department and for taking the time to respond to me. as for the fact that it took "2 months" to post my message on this forum, i didn't initially do so because i was just going to let it go and take it as a bad experience and let it be that we just don't have to go there again if we don't want to. however, i had 2 co-workers who just recently had a bad experience at UO so i thought i'd put my post out there to see if anyone else had a similar experience.. and once again, it WAS NOT to cause problems--it was just to see who else might have had anything similar happen to them.

When you posted, there were two threads of similar nature still on the first page. If you were looking for similar complaints, you weren't looking very hard. You also might want to check out the thread about bad experiences with CMs at Disney on the Community board. Maybe you shouldn't go to Disney anymore either if you are going to base your opinion of an entire park on the comments of one employee.

Sorry, if you just wanted to know if others had the same experience, you should have just asked .... simply described your experience and asked if anyone had a similar experience. But ... you did NOT ask this anywhere in your OP. Instead, your OP is riddled with insults ...

"This was the first time to Universal/IOA for both of us and I must say, neither of us was impressed and will more than likely be the last time we go there, from here on it'll be only Disney for us." (based upon one bad character interaction?)

"Universal's rides were nothing to get too excited about and just seemed boring." (no reasons given to back up this impression).

"From now on it will be Disney and only Disney who gets our money." OK, right, these things never (EVER!) happen at Disney. ;) These statements (with so little to support them) are the reasons that your OP was not taken too kindly.

Since you're looking for others' experiences, here's ours: My DH and I are about your age, sans kids. We had no problems getting our picture taken with Shrek during the busy Spring Break season. In fact, we even bought the pic because it turned out so well, and we have it displayed in our guest room. :)

my "opinion"/post (which i believe EVERYONE is entitled to have their own) was not based solely on the one bad character interaction i had, but again, i'm not going to get into that again. i posted the thread for the reason i already stated and that's that. i didn't know anyone would take it so bad. for how upset and defensive some people seem to be getting, i'd think everyone was part owner of the park and was taking offense to something he/she created. anyway, i'm not going to argue the subject anymore, we weren't happy with it and that's that. Moderator, this thread can be closed now. thank you... :goodvibes

Don't you just love it when somebody posts something and then doesn't get the warm fuzzies they were expecting, they ask the moderator to close the thread?

Sorry you had a bad experience. We just got back yesterday from a week in Orlando and our experience with Disney was much the same. We prefer Universal, it's attention to detail, it's amazing theming and the all around feel we get at the parks.

It is so nice there are so many parks in Orlando - something for everybody.

threads are closed for flaming/personal attacks on other posters for one thing. there are other reasons, they are listed in the disboard section.

the only thing i have read on this thread are differences of opinions and no violations of the dis boards. there has been no name calling going on here.

you can post a difference of opinion here and that will not get it closed.

so many newbies come on to check out what UO has to offer them and many of the regular posters here try to help out and give direction. they also try to correct erroneous statements.

the UO regulars do not want misrepresentations left unaddressed.
when someone starts a thread, many read it and try to help the poster out.
when it becomes a place to post negative comments, it bothers us.
why should anyone want to be critical and only post one side of an issue?
we onlly want to show the other side of the coin.

you shared your personnel experiences and many replied to that.
you have that right to do so.
i'm not here to cause any hurt feelings, just wanted to point out i get offended when i am not allowed to express myself also in reply to posts that need more positive things said about it.

you have made it very clear that you have been upset over things that occurred at universal. some of us have also have issues there but we present it in a different way. we tell what we went through then ask the others did it happen to them. and, if it did, then ask how did they handle it for satisfaction for all involved.

we have no control of UO pulling the express pass that was free 2 years ago.
yea, it did bite, but, we had to accept it as it was never coming back.

we shared how to tour the parks then in order to avoid the crowds.

for rude employees, well, i always say go straight to guest services and put it in writing so it will be dealt with. i have had problems at UO and disney and that is what i do. i know that doesn't ease the aggravation you have at the episode with what you posted about, but sometimes you just have to let things go and enjoy the rest of the trip.

i had issues at both parks last month and i had to shake it off. i didn't post on the disney community boards or the universal boards as i knew it would not be a good thing to rile people up. i contacted the officials involved to deal with it. you are not the only one that has been upset over an incident at both parks. i have but, i don't start threads over it.

i'm sure this thread will die down if no one continues to post on it and it will be buried in file 13 sooner or later.

one last thing, please come back and learn more about universal and techniques on how we handle problems. you might find that universal is not a bad place after all. you can still have your love for disney unaffected by that. you had a difficult start here but that can change. don't stay away because of this post. the more you read about universal here might make you find the darkside is kewl after all. many here also wear mouse ears.

but, i don't think it is fair to close a thread just because ........

thanks for your post macraven.. i guess my original post did come off a little "harsh" when there were a few good things about the park. for instance, i DID like the express pass that you now pay for if you're not an on-site guest. i think it's great that if you don't want to stand in regular lines that you pay for it thereby eliminating longer express lines. this avoided A LOT of wait time and allowed us to just about walk on every ride there. i liked this one "perk" very much. it's because of paying for the express pass that allowed us to do all of the rides and both parks in the one day that we visited. it was WELL worth the extra $$. i'm also glad that i wrote to universal's customer service and that they responded in the way that they did and assured me the issue would be dealt with and apologized for the CM's behavior. they can definitely be praised on their good customer service skills.

i will come back to the Universal boards to read posts/suggestions/reviews as you suggested as maybe one or so days in the future we will give Universal another shot. it's not often we make it to orlando but maybe when the time comes around again we'll have different feelings and give it a go.

thanks again for your reply :goodvibes

gee, i just wrote a long response and it disappeared. i hate when that happens. in case it shows up later, i will wait until then to finish what i posted.

Thanks, motofox4, for coming back to balance out your review. I think you would have found a better reception initially if you tempered your first post with both positives as well as your negatives, instead of having the positives coaxed out of you in trickles in subsequent posts.

Believe it or not, most of us can handle constructive criticism about Universal very well. Universal isn't perfect. Most of us recognize that and would opt to change a thing or two; we just express it differently than you did in your OP, as macraven already alluded to.
