Expedition Everest??

Does anyone know the estimated date that Expedition Everest will be open?
We will be there in March and I was hoping it would be open by then.

Hi,

If you do a search on these boards you will find many threads on this topic. Officially there is no word on when it will open. Mouseplanet.com has been reporting for some time that it will open on April 22 with previews beginning in February. But that is not coming from Disney, so it has to be considered a rumor.

The thinking is that Disney is aiming for April 22, which is both Earth Day and the anniversary of the Animal Kingdom. However, at this point no one really knows. Since you are going in March you will likely have the chance to ride what Disney calls the "soft opening" of the ride. This happened to us with Mission: Space a few years ago. We were there a couple of months before the official opening but I read here that Disney was doing the soft openings during the evenings. Sure enough, it was closed during the day but every evening we were there they moved back the barriers and let people on. We rode every night of our stay. Keep reading the boards and hopefully you will be able to ride Everest when you go.

Disney sometimes will do 'soft' openings - I remember just before Mission Space opened they will let guests on to test attitudes about the ride. Hang around the ride entrance and maybe you can luck into it if you don't mind taking the survey when you get off.

It is scheduled for May 06, but usually WDW has soft opennings a month or a few weeks before. They may have it open in March, but not likely.

I was wondering the same thing, when not even the CM's know!

We were on the DVC Members cruise last week and there was a VP from Imagineering that gave a presentation. He's involved in EE and said that he hoped to be able to take a test ride himself this week or next. I asked if it would be open mid May, since that's when we're going again and he was fairly confident that it would be opened before then.

A CM friend of mine works at Mission Space. I was in WDW during the soft openings, but I was there for a weekend. I was out of luck. She told me soft openings were only on Mon-Thurs nights, so keep that in mind, just in case.
Lucky for me, I didn't have to wait until this December to ride Soaring. Went to DL instead and walked right on.

I'm pretty sure Disney posted an official opening date. They're already running the trains and the scaffolding is about to come down.

People are speculating soft openings as early as 1/06.
