Expedition Everest

Okay I have gathered enough airmiles to book my flights, Now I am just trying to get comfortable with when Everest may open. I know officially they say early 2006, and unofficially I have heard a soft opening in 2005. Where is the best place to get somewhat reliable information?

Hi mejaie,

I think it's just plain too early to get a handle on when it will open. We may know more after the press event on May 6 at the AK which will be a preview of Expedition Everest.

We were at AK on Friday and Everest still has a long way to go. It's getting there, but it's too early to tell at this point when we will be able to ride. Some of the mountain is done, and some of the track is up, but there is still a lot to do. It looks like it's going to be really cool, though! I can't wait to ride it!

When I was there in Feb. I asked a CM at guest services and they said that the track is in, that what is going to take some time is all the rest of the area being built around the ride. So I would think 2006 since that's what the CM said, however they have been wrong before. But I cant wait there are a few points where the track is outside the mountain and it looks like its going to be a nail biter.

I think the goal is February of 2006, but agree, it's too early for a date.
