I need to know if this ride will make me sick. I feel sick if I ride on a coaster that goes upside down. Someone told me once that when you go backwards on EE if almost feels as though you are going upside down.

Do you agree/disagree. Should I try the ride, I dont want to ruin my day at the park if I get sick. The sensation of going upside down makes me queasy. HELP!!!!!

I am sensitive to motion too. I did not feel like I was going upside down while going backwards on EE. You will definitely feel the motion of going backwards and sideways, but not upside down. I don't close my eyes either ;) It is such a great ride.

Just some info for you as I am very motion sensitive but love going on rides. It seems the older I get the more sensitive to motoin I become.
I started taking Less Drowsy Dramamine about 2 years ago and it really really works for me. One dose works for 24 hours so I take it every night before bed. I am not drowsy at all from it and I can go on everything - even Mission Space, without getting dizzy or nauseous. It really makes a huge difference when going to WDW for me. It used to take me a while to "recover" from a ride and I would sit some out. Anyway this really helps me, so if you are sensitive to motion, maybe take a look at it in the drugstore. There are no side affects, and you can drink while taking it. I never go to WDW or USO without it. It makes a huge difference.

I didn't feel like it went upside down at all. If your'e worried about getting sick and ruining your day you can always try riding it near the end of the day.

It's possible. You go down backwards in a spinning type motion to some extent. So just be careful and do what's best for you.

The backwards part gave me a headache that lasted several hours. Not an upside down feeling at all--just goes backwards FAST, with a cork-screw motion. Then stops and starts forward again.
I had to try it myself--now I know not to ride it again!!

Sorry to say -- but EE made me nauseous. I need to take drammine or something before I go on.

You don't go upside down on this ride, but the backwards part is disorienting. I felt worse after going on the mild version of Mission:Space than I did on this ride. The steel tracks make the ride smooth, at least.

And some of this is in the dark so it gives that feeling of where am I. If you ggogle EE video you can watch video clip on someone with a video camera to see what it does. Spoils some of the effects if you have never been on but gives you a better idea. I also take the less drowsy dramamine every nite before bed. I never know which ride may trigger it.

If you are truly worried about the ride don't go on it. I enjoyed it the first time but the second time I felt a little off afterward. My dh is insisting we can ride 5 or 6 times on our trip next week - that's fine, he can ride by himself! I'll go on once....

Although I have been on it about 20 times (and will continue to go on it), the backwards part is disorienting. I feel it's more of losing your breath feeling than nausea though. It's the longest 7 or 8 seconds you can imagine.

Thank you everyone! I want to go on it at least once so I can say I have done it. Still dont know if I will or not - will go buy the non drowsy Dramamine just in case I decide to try it.

I would go at the end of the day but usually I always go to another park afterwards . . . we shall see, I will be there this weekend.

thanks again everyone for your replies and advice. :)

I just rode EE on Monday and I used an idea that I got right here on the DIS. When the ride starts to move backwards make a concious effort to RELAX and go with the ride. The natural tendency is to "fight" the backwards motion which makes your muscles tighten up and to move your head to get a look at where you're going. When I relaxed and let myself "fall" with the ride I had NO problems. I LOVED it and can't wait to go back and ride it again!!

The backwards part reminded me of the ride that use to be at the fair called the Himelaya. (sp?)
It's not bad at all and I was scared to death before riding.

I still do not understand how people can "feel like" they are upside down when they aren't. To me, the only thing that "feels like" being upside-down is being upside-down.

I've ridden a gazillion rollercoasters in my life. Literally thousands of rides on the things. The sensation on EE is not the same as going upside down, regardless of what some folks "feel like."

It is a fun ride, but not a super-duper thrill ride. You go backwards in a pretty zippy way.

Whether or not you'll like it, or it'll be good for you, I don't know. Unless you are prone to motion sickness or have some sort of inner-ear balance issue, I'd say go for it. :)
