Hey everyone I had a question about EE. On the part of the ride where you go backwards, are you just moving straigh back, falling, or some conbination?

That would be a 'combo' situation. ;)

Definitely combo. Backwards, up, around... I don't remember, I got to disoriented!! But its fun!!!

Backwards--and fast. That part of the ride I did NOT enjoy. Had a bad headache for several hours afterward. It's the reason I'll not do EE again.
Rest of the ride was fine--great theming also.

How many times do you go backwards and is it at the beginning or end? :confused3 The ride simulator thing kind of confused me, I guess because I can't tell what part of the train is the front part. From the simulator it looks as if you go backwards twice. Also how are the drops? Would you compare them to Splash Mountain or BTMRR? Also is the Yeti scary and how many times does he appear? I am trying to figure out if my 7 year old would like this ride but I don't want the Yeti to scare her too bad. :scared1:

It goes backwards once, that part is pretty intense. The drop is big, bigger than Splash, but it doesn't feel too big because it loops back around and up. Be aware that this is a very fast ride. You are going as fast back up into the mountain as you were going down the drop.
The Yeti only appears once and is kind of intimidating. I saw quit a few kids getting off of it and most seemed to have enjoyed it a lot. Personally, I was terrirified. The backwards part did me in.

jgorman9: The Yeti appears once in shadow at the end of the backwards section and then "in person" near the end. Maybe the strobes weren't working correctly the day we were riding, but my DD16 (who had an idea of where he would be) missed him the first time through! Your daughter might not even see him at the end. Of course my DD6 saw him and loved it! She was upset we wouldn't let her go through the single rider line by herself after we had all ridden three times.

I've been on EE quite a few times, but it was so cool to see that animation. It is very disorienting in the dark, but that backward helix has a downward portion that is very thrilling!

A word of warning about letting kids do the single rider line. We did it once and I didn't care for it at all. DH and DS got fast passes to go back. They got up to the car and were strapped in when the CM told them the computer crashed and they had to get out. The car that left before them was stuck at the top of the steep incline. A CM had to get everyone out and walk them down a very steep stair with only a rope bannister.

Thanks for the info. I really liked this ride. Although I felt little queasy afterwards, which is so weird b/c I can do roller coasters fine and never get car/sea sick. The yeti was working fine this past Thurs.

Wondering if they changed the lighting? We rode it 5 times in mid-August... once from the front, the rest from the middle of the train. The Yeti was well lit and VERY obvious throughout that section of cave.

The exact same thing happened to me after riding Everest. I still can't figure out what specifically does it, although I tend to lean towards that backwards helix. Kinda torn over whether I should take the chance again in December.

If the Yeti is operating normally, (and you simply have your eyes open) there is NO POSSIBLE WAY to miss the Yeti in the final cavern. Under those conditions the light-levels in the cavern are up full (not strobes, but full constant "stage lighting", like in Splash).

If the Yeti is experiencing "animatronic arthritis" (not moving correctly) they turn down/off the "stage lighting" and just pop a few strobes.
(Kind of like an electronic version of "if you BLINK" you might miss him.)

My 9 yo nephew couldn't see the Yeti at the end of the ride the first time he rode it either. He was sitting right next to me, so I know the ride was well lit, and the Yeti was there as sure as day. I told him where to look the second time we rode it and he definitely saw it that time! I wonder if it's a height thing?

If you really want to know what it's like, there are quite a few videos of the entire ride on youtube.com. Just search for Expedition Everest.

It goes backwards once in a combo type situation. I didn't find it to intense at all, it was very smooth.
On my first trip, I rode this three times in a row. I missed the Yeti the first two times I rode it but spotted it on the third time! He did kinda startle me! :rotfl: But it's all in good fun.
