Expedition Everest opening???

I am planning to go to WDW March 9-13. I am looking forward to riding the new coaster. Has anyone heard an official date for its opening? Also when does its soft opening begin? Does soft opening mean that it is always open, they just haven't had the "Grand Opening" yet?

Thanks for any input. I am anxious for the new attraction as I'm sure many others are. DAK really needs more attractions to keep people in this park. They also need enough attractions and maybe a nighttime event to keep the park open later. I have always thought that fireworks wouldn't work for this park because of the animals....just my opinion.

I believe the grand opening is scheduled for April 7th.

Soft openings have already begun. We were at AK yesterday afternoon and rode it twice. All of the fast passes were already gone and although the wait time showed 20 minutes, it took us less than 10 to get on the ride. And wow, what a ride!

Although soft openings are happening now, a CM told us that they could stop soft openings at any time. In fact, we weren't planning on going to AK yesterday, but the CM's comments convinced us to go try it out.
