Expedition Everest Line

So are we now reduced to thinking that a 23 minute wait in the FP line is ok??? LOL. I have been to WDW 7 times, used the old FP extensively and have NEVER waited that long in a FP line.

It's amazing to me what people are willing to accept as part of the new reality.

And as long as enough people are willing to put up with this, things at WDW will not change.

To be fair, there have been ample reports of days when the line was not nearly as long. The thrust of my report is that if the line extends beyond the bridge, writing the situation off as "not as bad as it seems" would be naive and wrong. It is long by any definition. But it does not appear that this happens daily. But if it does, it won't be a 5 minute wait.

Are you saying that 23 minutes is unacceptable for a wait in a FP+ line? Because in my experiences, 23 minutes may not be the average, but it certainly was common for a FP- wait time.

Oh man, you have had really bad luck with FP lines in the past. I sure hope your next trip is better. Over 100 days in the parks and having been during peak crowd times, we have never waited in a FP line for more than 5 minutes. A 10 minute was would be considered well above average.

::yes::

Your FP+ will turn Mickey green up to 15 minutes after your window (and 5 minutes before). If your window is 12:00-1:00 for example, and you get in line at 12:55 and wait anything under 20 minutes you'd still be okay and scan. If the wait is awful and even the 15 minute grace period doesn't help, I would tell the CM what time you got in line. They'll likely let you in, but if not I wouldn't take no for an answer since you were in line on time.
I think it's been determined that not everyone is experiencing the same thing with the 5/15 grace period. While I personally encountered CMs turning away people for being just a few minutes early, others reported being allowed through. I'm not saying you're wrong - just that there have been conflicting reports very recently, and I believe "both sides" to be true. I think CMs would be understanding if you were already in a very long line, but I wouldn't make it part of your plan to be late. :)

Maybe there will be some new clause when you book FP+ telling you to arrive by the middle of your FP hour. Kind of like the ADR clause which tells you to allow 1.5 hours to get there.

They may as well do away with the window completely and make it a set time. Like Doctor's appointment. Then they can tell you when you hit a long line that they over book to compensate for no shows (and today, everyone showed up) :rotfl:

Come to think of it, FP+ is starting to make me think more and more of airlines, never mind doctors. Next they will be weighing and charging us for bringing our bags in, lol

Yep! And standby is really standby now, just like the airlines :)

The new reality is way better than the old reality. The one before FP where you had to wait in long lines for everything.

I find it kind of amusing that some seem to think Disney owes them quick access to every ride. Really? Where is that written? I think we have all become a bit spoiled by FP. At any rate, FP+ to me is still better than having no FP at all.

Except the old reality most folks compare to is with FP-. Not sure I agree that FP+ is better than 0. Yes 3 > 0 but it appears lines get longer waits early compared to what they used to b/c FP+ folks are starting at 9 instead of 9:45.

And the FP- reality is way better than the new reality for many of us. Why do so many people go straight to the "well they could take FP away all together" when there was 14 years of another alternative?

I don't think Disney owes me quick access to every ride. I think many of us valued the FP- system and taking away the ability to use it in the way that was possible decreases the value of a Disney stay to many of us, regardless of whether it was explicitly written that we were entitled to it. For some people the value is not lowered enough not to go, but for some it is. It has nothing to do with feeling entitled to not wait.

It's also not written anywhere that Disney owes its guests well maintained parks with working attractions, but you can bet if the parks were run down and large numbers of attractions were closed, people would be upset, and it's not because Disney is breaking a written agreement to them. People see different amounts of value in different things. That hardly makes someone spoiled.

It is possible in that video that EE was just coming off a down time. I was at MK when Space Mountain went down and the FP+ line kept building. It ended up taking about 30 minutes for the ride to open back up and by that time the FP+ line was back to Astro Orbiter, but then so was the regular standby line.

You can hear a kid say "That's the line?! I thought we fastpassed this!". I saw what I thought were crazy lines in late Feb, but nothing like this!

:rotfl: Yes heard him ! That is exactly what I would say  !

I wonder if there is a domino effect with these lines..

example:

My fast pass is at 1pm. It's 12:40 and I see that line. I will logically think man I better get in line and by the time I get up there it will be 1pm. Not only are people lining up earlier, MAYBE, because if this, but also those with FP times from 12-1pm are also being forced to wait longer as they are sharing the line with those who have no business being there.

Somehow the lines grows slowly larger and people freak out and get in line maybe when they are not suppose too.??

just a thought.

ps. the line didnt look too tight.. seemed like alot of dead space.

And I bet there were people in that line that didn't even HAVE a fast pass at all! We saw plenty of people scan their cards or bands and the CM would say..."you don't even have a fast pass for this ride". :confused3
