They're calling for rain all week in Orlando. (50% chance). Just curious if Expedition Everest runs in the rain. We only have one day there and my middle child wants to ride it for the first time... not to mention almost everything we want to do there is outside.

Thanks! I was hoping that was the answer... not that it will be fun in the rain. I hate to have her not get the chance to ride it now that she's found the courage.

Also-

You can safely ignore any forecast that is more than 12 hours in advance.

We have ridden it in the drizzle, but I am assuming it is like most parks, where the rain wont stop it. As Robo said, the lightning will definitely stop it. IMHO, I would rather ride in the rain, than the cold we had in December. My sun had wind burn for about 3 days afterwards.

Robo,

I'm amazed that you were able to find a picture for that statement. Did you make that yourself?

We were there one June and it seemed like everything closed in the rain. I don't remember lightening - it wasn't a storm, but not a drizzle either. Just a regular, annoying rain shower. EE closed, Kali closed, the character meeting area closed, and the parade was canceled. AK was a pretty boring park in the rain.

We have been to Animal Kingdom in the rain and absolutely loved it! It made us feel like we were actually in a rain forest. It was the kind of rain that was just a continual drizzle - no lightning - so I think everything was operating as usual. Kali was definitely operating, because we rode that, got drenched, and it didn't really matter because we were already wet - ponchos or not! We've also been on EE when it was raining lightly, and for me, that also just added to the theming and mystery of the legend.:thumbsup2

We rode EE in the rain last July. The FP CM actually let us into the line a couple of minutes early because we were standing there in the rain waiting to for our return time.(We had 4:45pm passes and it was 4:42pm when she let us in.) The rain slacked off a little while we were riding but it did sting a bit on the drops.

Also remeber that quite often it only rains a portion of the day. So if it is closed for a while, check back. The animals on KS are often more animated in a light shower, and there is LOTS to do inside; Dinosaur, FOLK, Finding Nemo, ITTBAB

We were in WDW in Dec, 24 dergrees, little ice crystals stung our faces when riding Everest. Now THAT is realism!!!

Last April it ended up raining cats and dogs when we were at AK. My oldest Dsis wanted to take the nephews to see Nemo and my dad, middle sis, and B-I-L all wanted to do EE. My friend also wanted to see Nemo so I went with them but dad and middle sis said they walked right onto EE TWICE! It was definitely coming down but no lightning or thunder. They said it was awesome!:thumbsup2

That's weird we rode all of those in the rain. I even remember riding the Safari in the rain and still getting wet from the rain coming in from the side of the jeep!

Maybe there had been some lightning seen by someone!

The lightning does not have to be in the park, but within about 12 miles. If 10 minutes pass after the last lightning strike, they will reopen the ride. We were at EE one EMH when the lightning seemed to be striking somewhere around Epcot every 8 minutes. After an hour, we gave up. There never was any rain in AK that evening.

We rode it in the rain last June.
IMO, EE + Rain = OUCH!!!

I totally agree! Last spring we got on EE when it was lightly raining. Then it began to pour! OUCH! Luckly I had a puncho on and was able to pull it over my face.
