Expedition Everest Challenge May 5 @ 9:30 2012

Okay, the next 9 days will be the death of me!! :scared1:

I'm a full time college student (at 35 years old) and I work part time at a day care in the potty training room. I'm majoring in education, and I am up to my ears in lesson plans!! Why did I wait until the last minute to finish these up?!?!

And for some reason, I volunteered to work a full day tomorrow and make cake pops for Bunco on Thursday night. I managed to get my run in today (thank God!), but I might be pushing it on Wednesday.

My last day of class is next Wednesday, and I still have another major project to do before then where I transcribe an hour of audio between myself and an English Language Learner. I've transcribed before, and it takes FOREVER.

And I still don't have a good sports bra.

Okay, thank you for letting me vent for a bit. At least I have a GREAT trip to look forward to after finals!!

potty room hey?? lol Lucky you ;) I used to work in daycare, as a matter of fact I've been babysitter, daycare provider in home, daycare provider in center, assistant director in center, preK teacher, and nanny! haha so I totally can relate to the whole "potty" experience.
anyway, hope your able to squeeze some time in for jogging and for yourself in all the craziness!!!

does anyone wear a small gear belt that they really love and would recommend? I've heard of the SPI belts, but that's really the only brand I can think of off the top of my head. Are there any other good ones? I want to wear something for EE to hold a small camera since I'm not planning on wearing a water belt. It's my teammate's first race ever so I would like to be able to get lots of pics before, after and maybe during the race so I really want to bring my camera...and I REALLY don't want to have to try to hold it in my hand. So what are some other good, small gear belts that you have tried?

i planned for carrying water but I am now wishing I had planned for something to carry a camera instead :( I really want to capture as much as I can of the run. Not sure what I'm going to do about that yet :confused3 sorry I can't help.

Oh, I am actually feeling much better on the back today. I am not going to push myself, and am still taking today off from exercising. I may do some mall walking before bible study tonight. Tomorrow I have a sports massage scheduled and hope that helps as well. Then, gym on Thursday - but will forcus on cardio instead of any weight lifting.

Thanks for the thoughts - I am trying to make sure I sit up straight while I am at the computer - I have a very sedintary (sp?) job, so I make sure I stand up every once in awhile!

Oh my goodness....we are getting so close! I must finish my shirt this weekend - yes, I am making a team shirt for myself! I love my idea - I hope it comes out like I picture in my head! I also hope I get the bondibands I ordered - thanks for that idea!!
I also ordered some new sunglasses and hope those come in before my trip! Oh, I am worried about packing - I suck at packing!!! :confused:

Glad it's healing up. I hope you'll show us your shirt :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Guess what everyone?? We leave in 9 days!!!! I can't beleive it and I'm REALLY having a hard time getting any work done today :( LOL. I'm feeling a bit panicky like "do i have things in order?" "will i have everything ready on time?" "what am I forgetting?" "When am I going to have tiime to get MIL over to go over dog stuff with her?" and like a MILLION other things going through my mind.
I think I need to just stop working for today but then i freak out that i'll be more behind tomorrow and then have even MORE to do before I go. LOL
It's a vicious cycle and it's getting me NOWHERE!!! HAHAHA :laughing:
.
seriously, I have a problem. How can i NOT be able to focus on work when THIS is the adorable cuteness that I get to work on??????????
i'm a nut case - I've only edited 2 photos in the last hour and a half. :rotfl2: I really need to just GO on my holiday already bc it's the ONLY thing my brain can focus on right now! lol
I haven't gotten the email yet, but the waiver link is up on the race website...finally. Going to try it now...
It worked :) Team Jelly Belly is #2821! :cool1:
Got mine, too - 1475! Now to begin speculating on what the relationship between bib numbers and waves... think there is one?
And did you see the Course Talks listed in the instructions page? Is that new?
I use the Amphipod too, but the slightly larger one:
http://www.amphipod.com/products/holders/music/-electronics/airflow-endurance
Love it! I take my iphone (used to take my small camera and my stupidphone), kleenex, lip balm, and room key. For the longer races, I also put some Gel shots in there. It's nice!
I also use this one. It's super comfortable and holds everything I need.
Printed out the waiver! :cool1: Team mama bear and cub are 1333. :thumbsup2 Now all we have to do is wait for time to hurry up and pass...not like I'm impatient or anything. :lmao:
"Once the 5K adventure run is complete, you will receive a clue (one
per team). The final test on your adventure takes you back inside
Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park where solving the clues
will help guide you to the correct locations. Upon arriving at each
location you will need to show your card to the race staff in order
to receive your next clue. We suggest that you grab a park map as
you enter Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park.
Teams and individuals must complete the Scavenger Hunt on
their own and may not accept help from other teams, individuals
or outside sources."
So much for my Phone a Friend idea. ;)
Eh, I think those rules are really just there for "contenders"...which I am NOT :) I think if you're in it to win it, they'll be watching that you follow all the rules...for everyone else, I don't think it matters. From what I've heard, there ends up being lots of people helping each other out...and even some CM's helping out! I hope that's true, because I'm probably going to need it!
I have not seen that at any other Disney race I've done, so it's either new or unique to this event. That could throw a wrench in my late lunch ADR on Friday if I have to stick around for another half hour for that. hmmmm...guess I'll just have to play it by ear. I REALLY wish packet pick up would have started earlier than noon on Friday. I hate to have to go to the park, watch the time, leave and then come back and try to pick up where we left off.
I have an ADR for us at Teppan Edo at 2pm on Friday. I plan to take a cab from Epcot to WWoS for packet pick up...try to be there in line a little before the doors open. I'm hoping it won't be too crowded! I guess if we stick around for the first "talk" at 12:30-1:00 and leave right after that, we'll have time to make it to lunch...definitely doing a taxi back to Epcot though, no waiting for busses!
the Stoked Coconuts will be bib # 2292
We are a mother - daughter team.
I'm wondering if numbers corrrespond with waves at all too. My number is pretty high and I registered on like Day 2 of registration so obviously the day you register doesn't play a part in bib number.
:thumbsup2 Yeah, I don't see how they could prevent people from helping each other!
It's throwing a wrench into my everything... I was planning on a quick in-and-out from packet pickup. Back to the drawing board...
Maybe 2000's = female teams, 1000's = coed teams?
DH and I are bib #1768, so the theory is still holding up!
Okay...back to homework!
Oh, thank you al so much for posting about the bib numbers and waivers!:thumbsup2 I would've been completely oblivious had I not come to this thread.
My bib number is 1158! Last year, I was 1428 and was in Wave 5, so maybe I've moved up some since then. :confused3
My mother got her bib number, as well. She's number 35! I told her I'd be pretty surprised if she wasn't in Wave 1.:rotfl:
:confused: I am still so new to this Run Disney stuff and cannot find that information about the Course Talks - where is the instruction page?
This is new to me, too. I'm still seeing the original instructions about the 5 clues. :confused::confused::confused:
Okay...back to homework!
Just like Princess V said upthread, I feel your pain! I went back to school after a pretty long hiatus and it was really overwhelming at times. But I am so thankful I did it and you will be too! :goodvibes
I have a Spi belt. Don't run a race without it anymore! Comes with a couple of things to hold you race bib on as well. No more poking holes in shirts. Speaking of race bibs, the KansasKeteers (coed) are 1471!
Thanks!...and to everyone else that offered a suggestion too :) I know both of the running stores near me carry SPI belts, Amphipod and Fuel Belt products so I'm going this weekend to see if they have any of the specific ones you all recommended. I think I'll just go ahead and take my camera with me too to make sure it fits and test the bounce factor. Hopefully I'll find a good fit. I'll probably go through all this and end up taking like one picture. :headache:
