I was just looking at FP+ availability for EE when AK closes at 11pm.

I've looked at multiple days and there are tons of FP+s available but no day has FP+ availability later than 8pm-9pm. Does anyone know why this is? Does EE close before park closing?

I don't think they distribute after 8. My guess is because it is a walk on from 8 to closing. The longest we waited was 10 mins but that happened right after they let out people from the jungle book show. We rode six times one night from 8:30 to 9:15ish. You really do not need a FP

Awesome. I was hoping that it was still open later. I'm really excited to ride it in the dark.

I agree with Rivergirl2005, it is definitely way better at night. Ask to be seated in the front seats, it takes the experience to a new level.

Awesome ride in the dark. It was walk-on. Once my husband was all by himself (I was stuck with the little kids! :()

I'm so looking forward to riding at night multiple times in a row. I got the chance once in January of 2014 and it was great, although freezing.

Echoing the awesomeness of EE at night!! I was an avid coaster rider as a teen; as I aged, it got harder and harder to enjoy coasters, mostly due to motion sickness issues. Now in my 50s, I cannot ride inverting coasters at all. Ones like EE and BTMR, once only. Or twice, if separated by many hours.

DH and I visited AK at night for the first time this past weekend. Rode EE after dark. I had zero motion sickness symptoms. I enjoyed that ride more than I have enjoyed any other coaster for 20+ years! We headed to Kali, rode that with no wait, then headed back to EE. Rode it again, no issues again. It was like being a teen again - I was SO PUMPED! My theory is that with reduced lighting, I experienced less dissonance between what my eyes were seeing and what my inner ear was experiencing. Maybe that's totally bogus - but whatever the reason, it was AWESOME!

Yea, I enjoyed it. :goodvibes

When we were there in June the wait was minimal after 9pm. I think it stayed around 10 minutes. Most people seemed to be on the safari or at the Jungle Book show.

FPs aren't offered in the late evening because of the Jungle Book Alive show. Disney doesn't want the area impacted by show guests and ride guests so they don't offer FPs.

Is the thinking that if there aren't any FP+s available there will be less people in the EE area?

I believe you are correct as well as one less group of people they have to manage while keeping the Standby and FP guests under control for Jungle Book.
