Expedia just quoted $750/RT from Hartford

I'm getting discouraged here. Am I too early or too late to be booking for April?

Family of 5, will not pay 3500 to get to Orlando. Also, really don't want to go through Detroit or Chicago to get there (which is what is offered). We have traveled to Orlando many tiimes in the past, paying from 90-220 Round trip.

What is going on here? I am so excited to go and am in planning overdrive, but will need to cancel the whole thing if the flights don't come down.

Insights? Is there any hope?

Also look into flying out of Boston particularly on the new Jet Blue. Checking SWA's site, as well as surrounding airports (Boston or Providence) into Orlando or Tampa should yield you some reasonable results.

Also could be that Expedia was glitchy. Try going to the airline's site directly and see if you come up with the same $$ for the same flts.

Does your stay include a Saturday night? I just booked a one day business trip on a Monday, PIT/BDL and paid $719, which included my company discount, it was originally over $900.

I am in the same position. We are trying to get out of Providence or Boston on April 18th and the rates are through the roof. Jet Blue does have some okay rates out of Logan, but there times are not the best. I am waiting for SW to post their flights for April out of Providence. We flew non-stop from Boston, on Song the end of June this year and paid 202. roundtrip with direct flights. The flights for next year seem crazy!!

I guess I should feel very lucky I booked with blue jet when they first announced they were flying out of Boston I got great times early morning and coming back later in the day for $220.00 round trip with taxes for April 17 and returning on April 25 until then I was having no luck could only find $400.00 or higher.

Try different dates. Sometimes the next or previous day could have flights with much lower fares depending on anticipated demand or earlier bookings.

Kate-n-sam - We are also looking at fares from BDL or PVD to MCO. My Travelocity fare watcher shows that the really low fares are only through April 2. I keep waiting for them to go beyond that. I check daily using different combinations and different websites. We have a Feb. vacation trip planned also and I just happened to trip over a cheap ($250 if you can call that cheap) open jaw fare. The next day it went up $50.

USAirways is showing a fare of $204 from Hartford/Springfield to Orlando in April. If you go to their website and then put in the airports (BDL and MCO) and click on "price" (don't put in any dates), then go down to the $208 fare, it shows the dates that you can use the $208 fares and April is open except for Sundays and Fridays.
