We just found out yesetrday that we are expecting our third child. After having recently been on a 7 night land and sea vacation in October, I now wonder what our next Disney vacation will be like. In October we had a great time - both boys are potty trained, off bottles and pretty independant (almost 7 and almost 3). Now throwing a new baby into the mix and being out numbered, I wonder what it will be like??!! So mnay thoughts going through my head right now....... :goodvibes

What have the mothers and fathers out there experienced with a growing family on their Disney vacations? Every baby is a transition and naturally I am nervous, anxios and excited all at once. Being one of 5 kids in my family that frequently visited WDW, I wonder... What the Heck were my parents thinking??? :rotfl2: 3 is it for us!

I am looking forward to any feedback that anyone is willing to give out there! :wave2:

Congratulations! Our third has been an awesome addition to our family. We have three completely different personalities. The older two take great care of their baby sister. We have done WDW when she was an infant, and about to go again as a toddler. Best wishes!

We found out about #3 the week we were going to disney. DS was 11 and DD was 7 at the time. We took #3 when he was 9 months old and again at 3 and now 4 and we think he loves disney more than the other two. We did baby swap in the parks when he was a baby at 3 (big for his age) he was able to go on BTMR and SM which he loved. He's been a fun addition to out family even with the age difference. Congraulations!!

We too found our we were pregnant with number three right before we went to Disney a few years ago. My kids were 3 and 5 at the time. I often thought about what we would do at Disney, but it has all worked out great. Our 3rd child is 3 and has been to Disney 3 times and we are going again in April. Up until now, she has been pretty happy in a stroller and just watching. She has given up strollers, lol so our next trip should be an adventure!! But can't imagine life without her!!!

Probably our biggest change to our WDW trips with #3 was buying DVC! A hotel room just isn't a good fit for a family of 5 but we find the DVC rooms perfect for us, plus the full kitchen saves a lot on food.

Other than that, it's not that different. Yes, things take a little longer with three, but it's great. On rides one parent usually rides with two, the other with one. Plus you're always taking a head count, making sure they're all with you! I would like to go for four, to kind of "even things out" but DH says no way (he claims the third made him just about all gray, a fourth might make him lose his hair!!)

Congratulations, you'll love having three!!!!

so I can't compare for you. We did 2 connecting rooms at POP and put all kids in one room so we didn't have to turn off lights, etc. at 8:30-9:00 pm.
Worked great.

My littlest is 3 and less than 40" so dad and the girls did lots of rides with 2 girls together and dad behind while we went on littler rides, or played on playgrounds, etc. He fell asleep in the stroller a couple times so I relaxed.

We loved it. They had such a great time. Hoping to go back in 2 years.

Congratulations!!! :goodvibes We have 3 and took 3 trips last year with them. Our youngest was 11 months, 14 months and 21 months for the trips. Obviously, it means you'll have to slow down a bit more... But it's all good!!! It's not as hard as you probably think. We wouldn't keep going back again and again if it was!! Our next trip is Sept/Oct, and we'll have 4 kids for that one! Our youngest will be 5-6 months old. :wizard:

Thank You for all of the helpful and reassuring insight .... I think the thing that is getting at me is the newness of everything andthe not knowing ... I dont adjust well to change, I guess .... :confused3

But it is nice to hear the things from everyone. I very much appreciate it! One month down, 8 to go ..... LOL :thumbsup2

Congrats to you!!

I wouldn't worry about three kids at WDW. At this age, the biggest difficulty is going to be hotel rooms--Disney just isn't very kind to those of us who have more than 2 kids. Once you're 4 kids, you really get into a bind. But as someone else said, DVC comes in nicely there--if you don't buy, just rent points.

Rides as the kids become older will require someone going alone in the two seat only rides, but that's usually mom or dad (in our case).

Just remember, 3 kids and 2 parents isn't out numbered--you have 4 hands!! ;)

Hi!

Congratulations!

No worries - it all works out eventually.

Just makes things 3x better!

I understand how you feel. We found out last year we were expecting our 3rd a little before our cruise. The first thing I said to my husband in regards to disney is that we only bought enough points at DVC for a family of 4--now we need to add points.

Wave bye bye to affordable DCL and WDW visits. You have now joined those of us that do not "fit" into standard categories when we travel. My now 7y.o. DD spent our DCL cruise with Grandmom and Grandpop(she was 9 months at the time and DCL wanted $1000.00 to move us to a capacity required larger cabin). DD spent the cruise in Kissimmee being spoiled rotten, after spending the days prior to sailing with us at WDW). We have just started planning her first cruise, our first one on DCL was $2000.00 and the comparable cruise is over $8000.00 without airfare. Congratulations on the news and enjoy every moment! :wizard:

I guess Disney should reconsider their general hotel room size and capacity. The New Hampshire average number of children per family is 2.82... Now that I have met this standard, or broken it by .18, I would like to see better, more affordable accomodations for a family of 5. Yes, there are many familys of 2, 3 and 4, but there are also MANY families of 5 and bigger. When the average working family in our area earns a mere $49,935.00 per year, it doesnt take much for two hotel rooms or a suite to add up! Thank the Lord that we are above that, but it still doesnt mean its do-able for all of us. You add in living expences, mortgages, car payments, Child Care.... yadda yadda yadda. So now that I have rambled about the politics of alost being a family of 5, and have a new Soap Box to stand on, I will go... But to us, its all worth the penny pinching and saving to get to Disney World. There is no better felling that being there with your kids. We have to dig our selves out of credit card debt after, but all good things cost money. Especially Disney! If its wasnt so hard for some of us to get there, we wouldn't appreciate it as much! :sad2:

Congratulations!! :goodvibes
We have number three now too! I was worried about having three children at first, but I decided this would be the last and I really enjoy her as much as I can. I cherished evry minute of her being new born, it goes so fast. I slowed down and took more time. She really completes our family
As far as Disney goes, it's still a lot of fun and you can child swap etc. The other two are getting older so we get one more chance to see the sweet little things and get to enjoy the surprise and pure happiness to see a princess etc. pixiedust:
The bad part is where to stay! Number three makes it harder to find an affordable resort and having to get two rooms! Aaaaagh. That's the only downside...more money!
