We are ON our way to WDW! Tires don't fail me now... we have 150 miles from driveway to driveway and I can usually drive the distance in no more than 2 hrs. 15 minutes. SOOO, why have 2 hrs. and 15 minutes elapsed and we are ONLY in Ormond Beach?? I think we must be in a time warp, cause I was thinkin' we'd be pulling into valet parking right about now... One little snafu when we were packing! I left the DVD selection up to my DD9 who chose HER favorites, not thinking that the REAL reason the DVD is in the car is so that the littlest DD2 who is the ultimate non-traveller would be DISTRACTED! So naturally it came as quite a surprise when I asked them to pop in the "WIGGLES" Sing Along DVD and there was deafening silence in the back seat (if you subtract the deafening screaming coming from the babies car seat)! OH YEAH! Time to pull over AGAIN... but this time I have a plan. We are going into the SUPER WALMART (have you noticed how I can find these on ALL my trip reports? I think I have a Walmart Homing Device planted somewhere in the guidance system of my van!) and we are NOT coming out without a "WIGGLES" DVD. We pick the "WIGGLES on SAFARI" DVD with Steve Irwin the Crocodile Hunter (YEAH, now famous for the one month old baby feeding crocodile bruhaha!)
We pull out of the parking lot and back onto I-95 South and sigh with relief... no screaming as we turn onto I-4! Hurray! DD15 has her Walkman on high, so the real world will not intrude, while DD9 is left to entertain DD2 and watch the Wiggles! Meanwhile, I get to keep playing peek a boo with that 4 FT Tikki Man Balloon who will not keep to his own side of the van! EXCUSE ME! I am a married woman and my husband will be following us down shortly...Will you PUH LEESE Keep your Palm Fronds to yourself! I am trying to DRIVE HERE!
We are all in agreement in the starvation department and have to pull into a drive through Chick-fil-A to feed the little chick-a-dees! On we push to get to the Polynesian! We arrive before normal check-in and I can't believe our luck... a room is ready for us and we can go to our room. The Polynesian is oh so cool for check in! They put leis around our necks and bell services unloads our luggage onto a cart and drives us around to our room on this neat family-sized cart. Of course, DD2 had to go in her wheelchair so they had to keep stopping for me to catch up! SORRY I'M SO SLOW HERE!! Hang onto Mr. TikkiMan and don't let him blow away thank you very much! Our longhouse is TOKELAU and we are on the 2nd floor. I really liked our room and the crib and fridge we requested were right behind us... EXCELLENT SERVICE!
I am kind of on a mission here to get unloaded and get the baby fed so we can join in the mini-Dismeet at the MK at 3 PM. The Zurgs will be at BuzzlightYear and I am looking forward to meeting them! I have made a little greeting for them out of the green m&m man (filled with mini m&m's). He is holding a sign which says, "Greetings Zurg Family... Welcome to Planet Earth. We come bearing good shoes!" or something along those lines. There is a map of the Swan/Dolphin Resort on the back and the M&M guy looks like the green aliens at Buzz Lightyear! The kicker is he is wearing sneakers! (I guess you have to know Zurg who started the "No BadShoes" campaign and has a BadShoe website!)
SOooo, since this is the way this vacation is going... needless to say I can't get DD2 to eat very fast and by the time we make the MK it is about 4:30 PM.... BOO HOO! I MISSED IT! We manage to soak up all the atmosphere and joy all around us and just as we get to Tomorrowland, I realize... I FORGOT something!
