I have girls, age 7 and 9, and would like to know if there are any excursions in Nassau that you would recommend.

Or, are we better off just staying on the boat for the day?

We are on a 3 day cruise on the Wonder.

Thanks for your opinions!

Personally, we always stay on the ship...of course, we've been to Nassau almost 30 times! If this is your first time there, and especially with kids, I recommend getting off just to check it out. You don't have to do an excursion...simply walk over to the Straw Market (be warned that the vendors are very aggressive). You can give the kids a few dollars and let them shop for souvenirs. Just be sure to have them bargain! They might like a carriage ride, too...the carriages are on the way to the Straw Market. Again, bargain! The braiders will be very aggressive, but you might want to skip that, as some people have reported less than clean conditions (and lice). If you'd rather have a more controlled experience, I recommend signing up for an island tour for Disney. But if you go out on your own, you can head right back to the ship if you get tired of it.
If you want some beach time, take a cab to the public beach on Paradise Island. A lot of people like Atlantis, but personally I think it is very overpriced for what you get.
