Excursions Disney treasure eastern Caribbean

I am struggling with what to do in Tortola and St. Thomas. Nothing sounds appealing.

Does anybody have a wow excursion or something that is a must do while there, I understand it’s all about the beach. But I feel like I’m gonna get my beach day at castaway.

We went to the Baths on Virgin Gorda on our own, then had lunch at a restaurant near the port when we got back to Tortola. It was a lot of fun, though fairly crowded at times, even early in the morning. There is a great beach area at the Baths, and it is completely different from the experience at CC. We spent about 45 minutes swimming at the beach area there, and you are able to go around all the giant boulders, into small coves, etc. It is really unique. By the time we were done swimming, most of the initial crowd that arrive there with us had moved on, and we had the beach almost completely to ourselves. Then all the chickens roaming around waiting for the ferry and at the restaurant were entertaining too!

st thomas - i've done a few times of booking a private catamaran. its amazing blue water. it's my fav stop to do that at.

My friend recommended the Baths at Virgin Gorda or a transfer to Jost Van Dyke for tortola.

For St Thomas she loves Magens Bay but also said Coral World might be worthwhile if you have kids.

I'm not one to snorkel, I'm more of the above water type. Last summer I decided to try the Helmet Trek in St Thomas and enjoyed it very much. I did get a bit panicky at first, but once I realized I was not going to pass out, it was pretty cool. However, on the flip side I talked with a woman who had done it, and she was a certified Scuba Diver. She felt it was pretty lame, so I guess it's all relative.

There were some other exhibits there at Coral World which were fun to see too. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to do it again, but I am glad that I did do it.

Family catamaran to jost van dyke gets rave reviews. We loved our day at the baths and the catamaran to St. John. Booked thru DCL. Recommend both.

If you're adventurous, do ziplining in Tortola. It's a great excursions, I've done it twice.

I enjoyed the champagne catamaran sail and snorkel on St. Thomas (you sail over to St. John and snorkel over there).

We went to Jost Van Dyke on the afternoon (no lunch) excursion through Disney. Was able to sleep in, walk around the port, and eat lunch on the ship before the excursion. Sailed over to Jost Van Dyke and went promptly over to the Soggy Dollar Bar and got some Painkillers and t-shirts then enjoyed the rest of the time in the water. Just used the coupons they gave us for drinks in our area for some bottles of water. Gave us free rum punches on the sail back. Got back shortly before time for the boat to sail.

I love the Baths in Tortola. I have done it on my own and as a DCL port adventure. Maybe unpopular opinion, but the DCL excursion got there before the first speedy’s ferry and was less crowded. We went to the second beach first and played, then went through the main path as the last of our group finished. This worked great!

In St Thomas, I always book a private charter and go to St John or Water island for lower crowds. I let the captains pick and just tell them we want super low crowds. We go to the floating taco stand for lunch. Although, this time we may do the pizza. Again, I’ve been to the USVI enough times that I could easily catch ferries and cabs, but there are a few charters that pick up right at Havensight and provide drinks and snorkel gear and floats. It’s worth the money in my opinion. (We are a family of 7 so the price per person isn’t that bad)

We booked a private jeep tour in St Thomas. We stopped at 2 snorkeling places, a deserted beach (seriously there was one other family there), and an overlook. For Tortola we did a catamaran snorkel booked through the ship and enjoyed it—saw several sea turtles and a nurse shark.

We are doing the Eastern in the fall (over Halloween). I myself was looking for this input. We're probably going to stay on (or near) the ship at one of the locations and then hit an excursion for the other. Still haven't decided what, but I certainly appreciate the input already posted in here.

The area around port at St. Thomas has much more to see/do; however, I prefer Tortola's port area. St. Thomas has a lot of shops, but it's very touristy/Americanized (you can see a Burger King from the ship, lol). Tortola's is much smaller, but feels more 'authentic' to me.

I love both of these islands!

In St. Thomas I would STRONGLY recommend Caribbean Sea Safari, Snorkeling and Beach Tour (ST46)
A very short walk down the pier from the ship to board the catamaran, and you're off with an amazing crew (every time I've done it at least) with an hour of snorkeling at Buck Island where you can see sea turtles and a shipwreck. Absolutely incredible!
Then they take you over to Water Island's Honeymoon Beach, which is only accessible by boat. They are also serving complimentary soda and Rum Punch (for 21+ guests) as you travel over there, while you are there, and on your way back.
I think you get another hour or so on this incredible beach (no food provided but last time we were there, there was a small eatery on the beach serving burgers, conch fritters, etc.).

For Tortola, I've tried several different and my absolute favorite is Beach Express (TT68)
It's a bit of a lengthy drive over to Beef Island via the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge, but the isolated beach over there is absolutely stunning, and in my experiences virtually private (it's open to the public but each time it's just been our tour group).

That being said Jost Van Dyke is amazing, they take you to White Bay Beach - home of the Soggy Dollar Bar, where the Painkiller drink was invented (and is incredible if that's your sort of thing.) Here's their live Webcam
Also, The Baths at Virgin Gorda are an incredible and unique experience and make for some great photo opportunities that aren't just white sand beaches

I just got off the Treasure on Saturday and traveled with 4 adults a 3 year old, 8 year old, and 10 year old. We were limited since the 3 year old couldn’t do a lot of the excursions, but we did an excursion that had an island drive and then a beach on Tortola, and an island drive and the Pirate Museum at St. Thomas. The kids hated the excursions because they didn’t like the hot open air busses and the beach was kinda disappointing (not Jost Van Dyke). If you’re traveling with small kids I wouldn’t even bother getting off the boat, unless someone is going to stay behind with the young ones.

In Tortola, we did a private excursion with Aristocat Daysails. Fabulous, very professional, and a lot of fun.

In St. Thomas, when the kids were small we did Coral World (which they liked), then hopped over to Coki Beach which is literally right next door. We've also done a shopping day, which was ... ok. My wife did get a free rum bottle, which was a mixed blessing. Positive = free. Negative = she had a 'poor' experience with rum in college.

We were on the Treasure in March with a 4 year old and 8 year old. We did a catamaran charter through Adventure Charters BVI on Tortola and a private jeep tour with St. Thomas Scuba and Snorkel on St. Thomas. Cannot more highly recommend both companies. We had the best days and will book with the same tour operators next time we are in BVI.

We have been to Tortola only 2 times.
The first time in 2019 we did the Tour the Baths and loved it.
This year on our April cruise we did the Tortola by Land and Sea and were highly disappointed.
We would not recommend the Tortola by Land and sea.

The tour the Baths did involve some walking and if you view the gallery at Disney's port adventure web site you will get a sense of what it is like.

We would have done the Baths again but the wife had some balance issues so we didn't.
Would have done the Baths with lunch!!
