Would be grateful if anyone could advise if they have taken excursion from Orlando to Kennedy Space Centre? Which company did you use, what were they like etc. etc.?

Not currently decided if going to hire a car, but might if that is a better option. Staying at OKW in September 2009.

All advice welcome.

Thanks

We were advised to try this one from another post. Think we are going to wait til we get there to book though.

When I was younger we did a guided tour and it was great gave you plenty time to see and do everything. one thing we did not like was the fact that they took us to another shop telling us it would be cheaper to buy things there and not at the official nasa store and it was terrible thankfully we bought our stuff before this but alot of people were disappointed. No idea who that tour was booked through as my folks booked it.

I have always driven to KSC and would definitely recommend doing this as it only takes about 45 minutes from Orlando and once there you can do things at your own pace. It is a straightforward drive as well.

45 minutes?! How on earth did you do it in that time? took us more like an hour + half!

We booked a tour through Virgin and I think it was Dolphin Florida Tours they used, or something like that. It was a 7am pick up from DTD, coach turned up at about 7.20 and then went to pick up from other hotels down International Drive area. Must have been getting on for 8am when he finally got on his way and we were at the Astronauts Hall of Fame before 9am and that was with a stop of at a service station. It was a good day out and the driver was great, couldn't do enough for you. Thoroughly recommended if you don't have a car but if you do have a car then I suggest you use it as it will be a lot cheaper and the journey is easy.

Just spotted on NASA website theres a launch planned for 4/2/10, we're booked to go on 8/2/10-if the launch is delayed am I right in thinking that KSC isn't open at all on shuttle launch days? I've just posted on the US site to ask if you can see anything of shuttle launches from Pop-the launch is due at 6.20 am so I was wondering if we could see it take off-I reckon at that time of year it will still be dark, so maybe we could see the lights
