Excursion mess up - Sorry Long

First off, just back from a great trip. Only have 1 complaint. I booked the Atlantis Submarine excursion at 60 days prior to leaving. I was told over the phone that I had gotten the time slot that I wanted, which was at 10:15 AM. I asked if I would receive anything in the mail prior to leaving and was told my conformation would be the printed tickets in my cabin. I thought that was strange, so I asked again. Again was told nothing before leaving to go to the ship. So when I got to my cabin and was unpacking I saw an envelope with all our excursion tickets. I went through them and our submarine ride wasn't there and some other excursion for a beach trip was. I took these tickets to the Excursion desk and told them they gave me the wrong tickets. I was then told that no I had booked this excursion and not the sub ride.:eek: I said NO! I booked the sub ride. The CM said do you have your conformation? I said what conformation? She then said without this conformation she couldn't book the right excursion, since it was already full. Without the conformation there would be nothing they could do. Well I then asked to speak the manager, which they went got. Shawn was his name. He said basically the same thing and that maybe they sent the conformation to the Travel agent. So I called the Travel Agent from my cell phone and no they hadn't received it either. The TA called DCL and we had a 3-way call, but still no luck. DCL said they had no record of my Sub ride and basically it was my word against theirs. The CM said she wanted to keep the wrong tickets and would remove it from my account, which I said no problem. I did want to go on that excursion any way. The CM said that she could sign me up for the 12:05 excursion, but we had other plans. Shawn said let him look into this and he would call me in the next day or so. So, I said fine, we had a couple of days before getting to St. Thomas, so cool look into and let me know. Later talking it over with my family, we decided that we really wanted to go on this excursion. So we decided to cancel the other things we had in the afternoon and go on the sub. So I went to the Execur. Desk to sign up for the later trip. The CM and Shawn weren't any where around, so I spoke to another CM. While she was looking at the time slots I asked if anything had opened up for the 10:15 AM slot and she said no, but would you like to be on the waiting list. I said what waiting list!!. Why didn't Shawn or the other CM tell me about this? I said yes put me on the list, but went ahead and signed up for an even later slot which Shawn or the other CM didn't tell me about either. We were now signed up for the 12:50 PM slot and were now on the waiting list for the 10:15 AM slot. On Tuesday night, I decided to go to Guest Services and asked to see what my charges where to date. I was shocked to see the wrong excursion still on my bill and hadn't been credited yet. I told GS what had happened and that Shawn was supposed to call me, but hadn't. The CM promptly removed the charges and said she would make sure Shawn called me. Well I never got the call back from Shawn. But on the brighter side. We went on the 12:50 PM ride and had a great time. Things seem to happen for a reason. Boarding the water taxi back to the pier another excursion was in the area with people snorkeling. A woman had swallowed water, then panicked and chocked. She then went into cardiac arrest. They didn't know how long she was in the water like that. They brought her on our boat to get her back to the pier quicker since they were on a catamaran. They had radio'd ahead and had a rescue squad waiting at the pier. My DW is in the Medical field, so she went back to see if they needed any help, which the tour guide said oh yes please! He was really panicked. To make a long story short I'm happy to say they were able to get the woman breathing again. So, looking back I guess things sometimes work out for a reason. I guess maybe we were meant be on the boat during this time. Who knows? But any way make sure you get a written confirmation and bring it with you. Don't let DCL say no. As the CM at the excursion desk said "they do this all the time and have us mop up the mess."
 
wow. I think it was supposed to work out that way. good thing your wife was there.

It is so GREAT that you and your family was there for this person. She was very fortunate to have her guardian angel :angel: looking over her.

Everything DID work out for the best.
 
I tell you! That is some happy ending.

I truly do believe things happen for a reason and this certainly would be one of those things.

So very, very glad you all were in the right place at the right time to help another person. Keep up the great work!
