money do you usually go through on buying souvenirs on a 4 day trip to DL or WDW??

I'm getting our finances in order for our trip in 3 weeks, but was looking for advice on how much money we are likely to need for souvenirs for 4 days at DL & DCA??:)

Whoa! Big question. For me, this can range from $10/day to $100/day, depending on WHO I'm buying FOR and, what I'm buying. After my 1st 3 trips, I slacked off on buying for family on the 4th trip! Heck, if they aren't coming with, too bad for them!! But, last night of last trip, DS & I went silly, trying to find something for our 'limo' drivers (close family at home!). I decided, next trip, solo for me, they'll be lucky to get a POSTCARD! ;)

It's ALL discretionary and, there's SO much to buy but, it's still a personal & financial decision! ;)

From your Drongo pal! ;) :p

Hi Nutsy!

Congrats on your upcoming trip, you sure deserve it after all the hard work you did pulling the postcard exchange together!

I'm with KimRaye on the answer to your question! I've limited myself to just one t-shirt for myself per trip (I go to either DL or WDW every year, but mostly DL). Actually, what I spent most of my money on this past trip was pressed pennies and pins. I also did Xmas shopping too, but it sounds like you're talking strictly souvenirs. I guess it depends also if you're buying souvenirs for just yourself and family, or whether you're bringing things back for friends. Last year I spend HUNDREDS in a 4 day trip, but that's because I bought a lot of Xmas gifts.

As far as just my stuff goes, I'd guess I spent about $75-$100 on pins, about $100 for shirts for me and BF (his GC polo was expensive!), maybe $20-$30 on pressed pennies, and maybe another $30-$50 on little things like shot glasses and books for the pressed pennies.

My personal guideline, I would allow $100 per day to be safe. (Now lets see if I stick to that when I go to WDW in 2 1/2 weeks!)

Have a great time! Come visit the DL board too!

Don't forget all of the souvenirs you're going to buy for me while we're there. :teeth:

Oh...ALRIGHT! I'll buy my own! Geesh!!

The only souvenier I usually bring back is the film in my camera!

I usually figure between $150 and $500 in souvineers on a 3-4 day trip. Sometimes it runs more than that, I've never gotten away with less.

The answer to this question depends greatly on whether you have children and how many of them.

We usually plan on $75 a day just for "shopping money". This does not include food, snacks, activities, etc. - only stuff we want to buy. Some days we spend less, some days we spend more - but planning $75 for each day we are there works for us. So, on our 10 day trip last December, we had $750 of "shopping money."

However, the stuff we spend money on isn't really typical souvenir type stuff. After all our trips, we don't really need any more of that kind of stuff! ;)

We like to shop and spend lots of money in the World Showcase shops - especially Japan! We also spend quite a bit in the African shops at the Animal Kingdom and at the home decor shops at Downtown Disney. Most of what we buy is stuff for our house. We like to get several nice things on each trip. That way when we look at them, they can remind us of our trip - even if they don't have Mickey on them or say "Disney World" in big letters. My favorite purchase so far has been a beautiful wooden bowl from the Animal Kingdom. It has incredible African animals carved around the outside edge - elephants, zebras, giraffes, lions, etc. We also spent quite a bit on Christmas decorations on our last December trip.

If you have kids, or if this is your first trip, you will probably not be able to resist all the typical Disney stuff - MouseEars, t-shirts, pins, posters, etc. I would still say about $75 a day is a good amount - unless you have several kids. In that case, you might want to set a certain amount per kid per day.

We always try to build plenty of "shopping money" into our budget. It's no fun to be on vacation and see something you really love and not be able to get it!

Sounds good......I was working on $500 & I will only be buying for the 4 of us. DH myself & our two DS's.

Kama you are getting too cheeky now that you have you dish working again.:p

Thanks everyone:p :Pinkbounc :bounce: You're the best!!:teeth:

Oh Kama my friend.......................

Just thought I'd tell you that your souvenirs are taken care of................:Pinkbounc :p :bounce:

A little fairy told me:teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

No souvenirs for the 3 of us, though last April we did pick up some t-shirts on sale at the Rainforest Cafe. Our buying is limited to mostly gifts for neighbors and family.........:) :)

I usually just set aside about 150-200 for souvenirs... not including clothes and other things I might buy at the malls.

We do not have young kids, they are college age. Even when we brought our Kids last year around the last day DW asked is there something you would like? They bought a hat or a tee shirt or something. When we go now I may buy a pin or two, like $14..and may be a shirt or something to send the kids...we are not big souvenir folks :)

Caps & t-shirts is about all we'll be buying & some magnets & postcards, but that's about it:)

It's so hard to know who much to take when our dollar is only worth half of one US Dollar:(

Thanks everyone, you've all helped tremendously:)
