We are closing in on our trip to FW and Disney.... Dec. 18th -26th, we are leaving home the 16th about midnight. :woohoo:

Any last minute advise? lol ... I'm so excited I just know I'm going need huggies for the next two weeks so I don't have pissy pants all the time  ....

I recommend a re-check of the packing list...making sure you haven't overlooked or forgotten something.

I also recommend letting your bank and/or credit card company know that you will be on vacation and stepping outside of your normal spending pattern...banks can (and will) see charges for gas leaving your state, buying meals along the way, and then reaching Florida will decide to place a fraud alert on your card (the computer will assume your card has been stolen). We had this happen once and it's not an experience I recommend. Make sure you have access to the necessary information to prove your identity to the bank and the phone number to call them (just in case).

Keep an eye on the weather forecasts, it may become necessary to depart home early if the weather enroute becomes "difficult". Road construction projects on your route can be checked on the individual states DOT sites...this is nice to know information so you can anticipate delays on the road.

Make sure you have your Disney document vouchers where you can reach them upon arrival as you'll need them for access to Disney property and the Fort.

Anyone else have any other suggestions?

Last minute advise ? Yes,, pack a fish'n pole,,this could be your year to catch a Christmas Lunker !!:woohoo:

Got the poles packed :)
Thanks for the advise Bearikens, didn't really think about the road contruction and such. :surfweb:

I'll get some depends Born 2 Fish, cause the excitment is that BIG!!!!! :yay:

Fellow Michigander here...leavin' on the 18th for check in on the 20th. This will be our third Christmas we've traveled to the Fort, so I hope you find these few tips helpful:

1) Triple check your spare tire. (We had a blow out a couple of years ago and the tire shops closed early for the holidays in TN...we were very lucky to have found a kind shop owner who stayed open just for us)

2) Definately check the weather forecast. We have an extra day built in to our travel time...just in case. If the weather behaves, that just means an extra day in Georgia...with only a few hours to Disney for the last leg of the trip!

3) We have done both boon-dockin' adventures at Flyin' Js and overnights at KOAs. If you decide to boondock, get there EARLY! The parking lots fill up fast. (by 6pm, many are full!) If you're going for campgrounds, look carefully at pricing. There is a WIDE array of camping fees out there.

Have a safe trip!

Last Year we hit a couple of snow storms in the Carolinas, unless you are use to driving in poor weather conditions with you rig,,, DON'T. :sad2:
When the storm hit us, everyone and I mean everyone got off the road quick, except us.. clear sailing. No one to slide into. :scared1:
great Advise get wether updates and get road conditions (contruction via your car club or rv club as well) Each state has they're own DOT hotline with this info 24/7, truckers use them all the time..
BE SAFE:thumbsup2

Speaking of truckers....

We also take our CB with us to listen to the chatter for poor road conditions/accidents. :drive:

Beware, though, there are a few truckers who help keep the stereotype of a potty-mouth trucker going. :sad2: We usually stick to 19 and listen...

Two years ago, I75 was at a stand still because of an accident. We found out 30 miles ahead of time and managed to take a suggested alt route to go around the mess.

Don't have a CB, it might be worth looking into one. Or maybe borrowing a friends?

Oh Boy, I know trucker potty mouth, It has gotten worse,:scared1: took cb out years ago, if you have house critter, you know the ones who eat everything and don't pay there own way. I wouldn't recommend a cb in cab. It can be a god send, but for us not worth it anymore. :headache:

ok, got the GPS packed, numbers to DOT's in the states we'll be going through....now just need to load up the Motorhome with some depends:rolleyes1 cause I am just to darn excited:cheer2:
Is it always this way when you go to the Fort.... I know I get this way just going to Disney, but it's double now!!!!
