After waiting for months for our resale to close, it finally closed and now we have to rent out a bunch of points because ..... we just found out we are having our first baby!! :-)

We'll be due in March ... so the May trip is out for sure... we were hoping to go in October of this year, but I decided we're better off skipping it to save the vacation time, etc.

So, I am so sad to have to rent out points before we even get to go ourselves, but I can't think of a better reason! We have decided that our first trip will be NEXT September or October... when Baby will be 6 or 7 months old...my parents said that we're nuts for wanting to go with such a young baby.. but I think we have realistic expectations (i.e. it will be absolutely nothing like our last two trips down there and we won't be the ones running the show) - but I think we'll have a great time!!

A couple of questions for anyone that can help---

1- Do you have an example contract?
2 - Can you transfer banked points to another member's account?
3 - Have you ever used the escrow service advertised on TUG or Redweek (can't remember which one)? Do you only accept checks??

Thanks in advance!!!

Sorry -- Can't help with the questions about renting but just wanted to say "Congratulations"!!!

Congratulations and Welcome Home :)

Congradulations. You will really enjoy your DVC resort. Double congradulations on new baby. I assume this is a first.

I am a mother of five. I would do the Oct trip this year. It may be the last one with you and DH. The baby at 4 to 5 months will be easier to handle than a 2 year old, but will not really get anything out of the trip. The two of you will not be able to get in the pool at the same time unless you take someone to watch baby. Many rides might be jerky/unpleasant for baby. I saw parents wait for lion king show to start (at least 30 minutes) and then leave as soon as it started as baby decided to cry.

Enjoy your last trip without children. Once they get hooked on DVC they may never let you do Disney with just you and DH. Four of my children are 18 and over. I can not imagine going to Disney without them and likely will always have most of them with us.

We are due the end of February / beginning of March!
We too were intending on a late fall trip but will now hold off until the fall of 2005. ( Baby will be about 8 months by then!)
But congrats!
BY the way, check out www.parentsplace.com go to boards and go to the March 2004 board. You'll have a great support group and they are real nice. You definiately don't feel alone at anytime!
This is my second after 8.5 years!!!
Good luck!

Congratulations!!!!

We just had DD 2 months ago (third child) and we will be going in March when she is 9 1/2 months.

I would go sooner, but I'm terrified of taking her during Christmas cold and flu season.

As for a rental contract, some kind person here on the DVC board once offered to email one, so I'm sure you can find a copy here.

I don't know the rules of transferring points as we have not done so. But someone here will know!

Congrats!

Hi,

Congrats on the baby!!!

Allison

Don't worry, you're not crazy for taking an infant to WDW. My youngest DD was only 3 months for her first trip "home." Just buy yourself one of those Baby Bjorn things, strap that baby on and have a great time. My DD went on many, many rides with me and DH that way.

Good Luck!

DVC Dawn

I would not hesitate at all to take an infant to WDW! Much easier than a toddler! We took a trip to Hawaii when our DS was 9 months, and, except for all the paraphanalia, it was VERY easy to have him along. Much easier than our then 7 YO DD!

No, banked points can't be transfered. I don't have any other specific information for you about renting...Never done it.
OOPS! Almost forgot to say
CONGRATULATIONS on the coming little one.

Oh yeah, and WELCOME HOME too!:bounce:

For me, there is no better news on earth then that of a brand new baby!

I don't have info for you, sorry, but I know that some one will come along soon with it. They did for me once, but my computer crashed before we backed it up. If you don't get a reply soon with a contract, start a new thread with what you need in the title.

PS I'd go both in October (for a long w/e), and again for several days with baby (if you can afford it). Infants are a piece of cake to travel with, and they really don't require as much "stuff" as people think.
