Hello,

I have "NEVER" been to Walt Disney World. My husband and his ex-wife took there two little girls several years back and I have been saving for this. He and I want to take all the children. I was wondering when is the best time to go? He went in the Summer and the girls only got to ride 2 rides. It was not worth the trip he said nor the money. But, I want this to be something my family can remember. Does anyone have any ideas on where to stay, When is the least crowded and what all is there to do?

Please respond back to me. :cheer2:

Thanks,

LizBeth Stratton

Thanks for welcoming me. Can you give me any information on WDW? Also, how do you get the cute little icon on the side of the page. I have seen Micki Mouse, Mary Poppins and the list goes on and on.

lizbeth...go to the top of the page where you'll see user cp. There will be a list including edit avatar. This is where you can pick your icon. The best time to visit in my opinion is in the fall. We go mostly in October or November when the weather is cooler and crowds are manageable. Where you stay depends on your budget. All the WDW resorts are wonderful and magical. There are four theme parks, water parks, Downtown Disney for shopping and the list goes on. Check out each individual board for a wealth of information from thousands of Disney experts. Have fun exploring the boards, but be warned...they are very addictive!!! :earsboy: :earsgirl:

Welcome Lizbeth! We are planning our trip during the first week of October. My kids have a holiday that Friday the 7th so they will only miss 4 days of school as opposed to five. The beginning of the week, Sunday Oct 2nd, is still in value season so we will get a reduced rate for the whole week (WDW goes back into regular season Oct.4th -Thanksgiving) The avg. high temp. during that time is 85, avg. low is 65. Crowd level averages a 2 out of 10 for most of that week(all of this is according to the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World which I highly recommend). Hurricane season *should* be over by that point too. It just seemed like the perfect time. We shall see!

Regarding where to stay, we just made reservations at the Port Orleans Riverside Resort. How many people will you have in a room? If it is more than 4, then you are limited to the moderate(POR) and deluxe resorts unless you want to rent two rooms at a value resort.

Good luck in planning your trip! These boards will help you so much! :)

We enjoy taking our children in January, there are no crowds. The most we waited in any line was maybe 20 minutes, which seemed like an eternity considering most rides had ittle or no lines.

I agree with the other posters about accomodations, how many people will there be?

We used to stay off-site but now pay the little extra to stay onsite. (many factors for us)

This website has some great information http://www.allearsnet.com

Enjoy Planning

Ditto to baileybelle, I've been october/november and march, usually find oct/nov better weather wise and not too crowded in the parks (excusing obvious holidays like thanksgiving, halloween etc) Just go when you can afford to get the most out of your hol, the more you have in your budget for souvenirs, nice meals etc the more fun you'll have

my advice is mid late Septmeber as the crowds are very low and the weather is mostly acceptable. as to where to stay thet is a matter of prefrence and what you want to spend i owuld suggest Port orleans riverside or the Polynesian in the vlaue calss it would be Pop cebtury but i have never stayed there but it looks nice.
here is link that should help answer all your Disney questions...

november 27th through december 19th is one of the value season times at wdw. so you will save a bundle on room cost, as low as $55/night special at the value resorts like pop century & allstar movies, music & sports, which are fun & festive disneyana themed hotels. there are also moderate resorts like the caribbean beach & port orleans french quarter which is romantic & fun, and the deluxe resorts like the polynesian which has the monorail to magic kingdom & the ttc/epcot or animal kingdom lodge with a savannah view which is was really enjoyable with the animals to view from your balcony. another great thing about value season is there are barely any crowds, the weather is nice in the 70's and there are special events & decorations for the christmas season, including mickey's very merry christmas party at magic kingdom & the candlelight processional at epcot. this is one of our favorite times to visit.

hope you all have a wonderful trip at wdw and welcome to the disboards!

I went last year during September. We were headed into Florida while everyone else was headed out. Of course, that was because of Hurricane Ivan coming but we got very lucky and it missed us. We had almost no lines at all at any of the parks that we went too. It was great. My kids and I got to do everything we wanted to do. You may have to fight a Hurricane but otherwise, I would say it is definately worth the trip. :cool1:

:cool1: Welcome to the DIS.We like to go at times when it is not crowded, and for us we've found those times to be early November (before US Thanksgiving),and in early January.........There are very few lineups then, and weather is also good at this time of year.I'd suggest staying on site,at either an All Stars resort or Pop Century,or ,consider renting someone's DVC points and staying at the least expensive Old Key West.We love it there, and the price is right!
Have fun planning your trip!
