No, I've never been to one.

It is a fun dining experience. I also like the yakiniku restaurants where you have plates of meats, veggies....that you cook at your table, and dip it into a sauce before eatting it. YUM.

What types of summer activities does your town host or celebrate?

-Ex. Watermelon Festival, farmers markets.....

Sorry I have been MIA for a while, life is so hectic at the moment. I can't wait until school breaks up on 27th June! I'll not backdate my answrs there are too many days. :rotfl:

Our town has a Marafun every 2 years where teams raise money for charity by racing around the towns streets. Some are serious and some are in fancy dress. We also have our Highland Games with some fun events on Sunday, Tartan day, Forfar Food Fest, Angus Glaens walking festival and a market every month with local produce. The fair comes to town every summer but it is not as popular as it once was. As we are a small town we attend events in our county too. One of the best was the annual Mud Safari into the middle of a tidal basin. We have done this twice and it is brilliant fun and educational.

A real effort is being by our local authority to promote good citizenship and attract tourism and I can see slow changes for the better. For anyone who would like a nosey here is the link to the Angus events diary.

Angus events

Thats my tourism plug over! :rotfl:

My town does a lot of things all summer long lol!
The line-up of events pretty much starts with the Parker Country Festival (we still call it Parker Days which was its older name...). It is a 3 day country fair type thing with midway games and rides, arts and crafts booths, live music and dances, tons of food vendors, and a parade- lots of fun!

Then about every wednesday after that they put up one of those huge inflatable movie screens and show family friendly movies in the town park (basically the hub of town). That is free- just bring a blanket and or chairs to sit on along with any snacks you want to munch on. popcorn::

There is a farmers Market every Saturday year round actually (well, i think they take a break in December and January lol).

Around the end of August comes the Taste of Parker and the Parker Expo which showcases local businesses and restaurants with lots of information and food samples...

And then Labor Day brings the closure of the town's main swimming pool park. On that Monday, the town closes the pool to humans, adjusts the pH balances of the waters and the pool is made available to Dogs! Residents with well trained, non-aggressive, socialized dogs can let their dogs jump and swim in the pools. There are agility and speed courses set up for competitions, Animal Humane groups and Rescue Groups set up booths, and so on...Really fun stuff to watch! :thumbsup2

Your town sounds fab and the above has got to be one of the strangest events I have heard of! :rotfl:

My daughter is in pre-k, and had gotten her first year book. When I was going to school, we only had class pictures in elementary school, and yearbooks in middle/intermidate, and high school.
So, the QOTD is-
Did you buy yearbooks, and if so, do you look back at them, or are they sitting somewhere in your closet, in a box, in your storage, attic....and just collecting dust?

Yearbooks are not very common where I come from. I have never had a yearbook and neither have my girls.

The first yearbook I ever paid for was in Middle School- I let kids sign it and then became completely shocked ( !) at some of the things my "friends" wrote in it :headache: that I promptly threw it away!

I did purchase all four years of High School yearbooks but I definitely did not let anyone sign or write in them, lol! :thumbsup2

And yes, they now sit up on a bookshelf in the loft...I only ever look at them when various reunions approach and I start getting those emails from Classmates dot com saying "So-and-so is trying to reach you", lol and I have to go look up who the heck So-and-so is! :rotfl2:

I'd be glad to receive any flower and I give whatever strikes my fancy at the time.

What are your favorite types of flowers to recieve, and to give?

I love colorful bouquets instead of just roses. There's a farm down the road where the lady puts together bouquets of fresh cut flowers each day and leaves them for sale by the road. $6 for this huge bunch.

I feel guilty getting flowers, like it's a waste--they're pretty, but they really only look nice for a few days. DH got me a bouquet of roses for our anniversary in WDW. It was gorgeous, but I couldn't even take it home. (I pulled the flower heads off and made a bowl of potpourri out of them when we got home!)

:offtopic:
My kids get home from school in an hour and they're home for the summer...I have mixed feeling about this. :rotfl2: :crazy2:

I am a huge fan of Orchids. My husband, instead of giving me flowers for special occasions, gives me a flowering orchid instead. I have one that he gave me for Christmas that's still in bloom. I own 5 orchid plants, and I enjoy them year round. If I'm giving flowers, I usually give a bouquet of bright, mixed flowers. I'm not a fan of roses, as they don't last very long in comparison to other cut flowers.:flower3: :flower3: :flower3:

My daughter will be done with school soon, and she told me that she is going to miss school.

I like to mixed flowers as well, but it depends on the recipent. As for recieving, I would prefer potted plants or flowering potted plants, depending on what it is. But also like lillies.

Are there any commericals out there that you really like, or just stick out to you that bug you?

I know what you mean. Today is Carol's first day of her summer break. She is officially a senior in high school.

I like commercials that make me laugh or feel good. I don't like the commercials that don't make any sense. I can't think of any at the moment that I don't like but usually the Hallmark ones are the ones that make me feel good.

There used to be a commercial--I think it was for GEICO--where the woman was talking and way behind her, her husband was doing the dance where it looks like you're spanking someone. That one used to make us howl. :rotfl2:
I can't think of any recent ones that have been as funny to me, tho.

The commercial for Lionel Coin Bank is like fingernails on a chalkboard. :scared1:

Can't think of any commercials off hand. :scratchin

But I wanted to go OT and say ----- It's the first Star Wars Weekend of 2008!! :dance3:

:chewy: :darth: :yoda:

I don't know anything about SW. But I like to go! :goodvibes

I think "the Studios" needs to have a beauty boutique featuring SW princesses. Wouldn't that be GREAT and cool?

If you were to give a speech at your local high school's graduation, what would you tell the graduating class?
