If you were to give a speech at your local high school's graduation, what would you tell the graduating class?

I would say that they need to pick a job that they love, and that they should still have time away from that job for a life. Oh, and that manners are still important. :goodvibes

What are your favorite summer fruits, and vegetables?

I love really ripe, sweet watermelon, (really ripe any melon for that matter!), cherries

Veggies--I can't wait for corn. Around here there are roadside stands with fresh picked corn every day during the summer.

What are your favorite summer fruits, and vegetables?
Grapes, watermelon, yellow squash, okra, tomatos and corn. I know that you can basically buy them year round but they are best straight out of the garden. Wish I was doing one this year! :(

What are your favorite summer fruits, and vegetables?

My absolute favourite summer fruit has to be raspberries. I love them, always have done! They are expensive out of season but they will be in season any time now. Just in time for the summer holidays so my DDs and I can go 'pick our own' at the local farm. Yummy!!!

What is your favorite holiday, and why?

CHRISTMAS IN JULY IS MY FAVORITE HOLIDAY!!!!!! :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: I am just kidding, I am just getting so excited!!!

I actually really do like Christmas....or July 4th. I LOVE fireworks!

I also like my birthday as a holiday. ;) Jan 26th is Australia Day!! Now, I do not know anything about that day, but I think it is great that all Australians can share a special day with me.... :cool1:

What is your favorite holiday, and why?

I love Halloween best. I love the decorations, the costumes, the party food (we make some weird and wonderful stuff), the party games. Halloween lasts more than a week in our house as both my DDs have a party a week apart. My Halloween decorating box is soooo much bigger than my Christmas decorating box. It's slowly getting more popular over here.

I would have to say that Christmas is my favourite time of year. For me it's a time to give back to those who have helped us out or given a kind word throughout the year.:santa: :santa: :santa:

If you were to carve a design on a jack-o-lantern what would it be?

Also, I have asked this in the past, or a similar question but since there are many new members....

What sort of costumes have you dressed up as in the past?

I've never been very adventurous with carving but my mum did a fab one last year of a witch. I must try something different this time.

I love homemade costumes rather than shop bought. My favourites that I have made for myself are a mummy and also an alien abduction where it looks like I'm being carted of in my PJ's by an alien! Last year for MNSSHP the seven of us went as cannibals as yu can see in my signature below. My mum, DDs and I made them from scratch and we received tons of compliments. It was great fun!

My favorite holiday season is Christmas. The lights and decorations. I hate it when the lights go off and it gets dark so soon.

My second favorite is Halloween. I love to carve the pumpkin, get the treats ready for the kids and decorate. We do a mix of scary (but not too much for the little ones) and cuter stuff (this is a big hit with the little ones).

When I was a kid I was way more into Halloween than I am now. The only costumes I remember from then was.....

Miss America (This was my favorite one)--My mother made it complete with sash that she made herself!

Pumpkin (This is my least favorite one)--nothing like a foam ring around your legs; I couldn't walk

I do not really dress up anymore. I am not very good at costumes. :worried:

Keeping with the Halloween theme, what types of Halloween treats do you give out? And, what were your favorite ones to recieve when you had gone trick or treating?

The best Halloween Trick or Treating experience was when I was about 8 or 9. I went up to this well lit house near mine, and this young man in his 20s answered the door. He told me that he totally forgot that it was Halloween, and felt bad that he did not have any candy. I said it was alright and started to walk away....

But he stopped me and put his hand in his pocket and gave me all the change in his pocket!! I think it was only a dollar or so, but it was the coolest thing I ever got!

Growing up we did not give out candy because we lived in a back jouse and not many people knew we were back there. But, if I had to pick a candy to give out....it would be Starburst...or Peanut Butter Cups. (But then, the trouble would be me eating them! :rolleyes1 )

I tend to have a mix of candies and small treat bags made up to give out to the kids- the younger kids get the treat bags with candy and small fun toys inside (I start stocking up when school starts with things from the crafts stores and dollar stores lol). The older kids I tend to just give candy to unless they see the toys and ask for them lol!

My favorites to receive when I was a kid have not changed from my favorites now: Twix, Snickers, Lemon Heads or Jawbreakers, and Atomic Fireballs! :goodvibes

What is your favorite holiday, and why?
Probably Christmas. Especially if I get to travel. I like to go places!:moped:

If you were to carve a design on a jack-o-lantern what would it be?
I like to do the traditional face.

What sort of costumes have you dressed up as in the past?
What I can remember:
As a child/teen - cat, hobo, hillbilly, 60's love child, old lady
As an adult - hobo, martian, bag lady (the bag lady was fun. I cut arm and neck holes out of a black plastic trash bag and taped different shopping and food bags to it. :rotfl: )

Keeping with the Halloween theme, what types of Halloween treats do you give out? And, what were your favorite ones to recieve when you had gone trick or treating?
I can't really remember what I liked as a child but I usually give out what I would call the good stuff - chocolate!!

What was the most exotic food item you ever tried?
Hmmmm, is calamari exotic? That's probably the most exotic food I've eaten besides Indian.

Over here trick or treat is becoming a popular phrase. It used to be called 'guising' when I was a little girl and you had to do a song or say a joke to get a treat. Although the name has changed most kids still have a party piece for the doorstep. We like to give out an assortment of sweets. The most popular are the mini bars of Dairy Milk, Toffee Crisp etc. We never give out any sweets containing nuts as my DD has a nut allergy so we just have that habit. Money is also popular to give and to receive.

I can't really think of anything particularly adventurous. A previous poster mentioned Indian food which reminded me of a Hot Sauce we bought called Dave's Insanity Sauce. My DH and I both dipped our fingers in and it very nearly blew the top off my head! Yoweee, it was hot, hot, hot!!!
